Corvette

Here’s a first look at the Corvette C8 in RHD configuration, which means Australia, Japan and the UK should be getting giddy.

Although GM showed a single image of the C8 cabin in RHD guise nearly a year ago, we have yet to see any official release, press images, or even a prototype from Chevrolet.

Talking to CorvetteBlogger, Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter stated “some of us are actually driving them around… it’s very strange to be driving a Corvette with the steering wheel on the right-hand side. We’ve built some and we’ll be doing some of our pre-production testing now in the U.S.”

Fascinatingly though, this is the first time we’ve seen a single prototype.

Expect an official debut in the coming months, with an on-sale date TBD.

Falken Tires
Eurowinter Studless Winter Performance Tire
Falken Tires

Falken Tires has introduced the new Eurowinter HS01 and HS01 SUV Studless Winter Performance Tire, offering excellent winter traction for today’s sedans, coupes, SUVs and CUVs. The Eurowinter HS01 offers an improved tread compound over its predecessor, the Eurowinter HS449, enabling drivers accustomed to snow on roadways to perform even more effectively, thanks to the Eurowinter tire line’s confident grip and its predictable performance in ice and snow.

Equally important, Falken’s proprietary 4D Nano Design and its silica dispersion technology ensures the winter performance studless HS01 remains pliable and functional in freezing temperatures, while 3D Canyon Sipes and its biting edges provide increased snow and ice traction without compromising vehicle stability. Additionally, a new uni-directional tread pattern, with central transverse grooves extending from the center area that expand in width to the shoulders, facilitates higher levels of snow performance and more efficient water dispersion—via wider exits—for improved wet grip and hydroplaning resistance.

Mustang

Here’s a first look at a very early mule for the next-generation (S650) Ford Mustang.

Clearly based on the current S550 Mustang GT, the prototype is wearing light checkered camo on the front end along with a smorgasbord of parts from various current Mustang variants: the lower splitter and side skirts are from the new Mach 1, the dual-tip dual exhaust is an option on the GT and EcoBoost models, while the wheels are from the Mach 1 Handling Pack.

But what is possibly the most intriguing part is the execution of the rear brakes: while the “regular” Mustang GT features a small rear caliper mounted at the “back” of the rotor, this mule places a much larger caliper on the “forward” end of its rotor, with a small parking brake on the “back” of it. This configuration is not seen on any S550 Mustang model or variant. Sources hint that this new brake setup could be attributed to AWD; similar brake setups can be seen on the Charger GT AWD, BMW M850i, Infiniti Q50 Red Sport and others.

A set of cables entering the cabin from each wheel suggests data-collection practices. And based on engine and exhaust notes, this model clearly had a 5.0L Coyote V8 under the hood.

All of these things together suggest that we’re looking at an early (possible AWD) mule for the next-generation Mustang, expected for the 2023 model year.
