First-Time Exhibitors

More Than 417 Reasons to Attend the 2013 SEMA Show

Buyer, exhibitor and media registration for the 2013 SEMA Show are now open and available online at www.SEMAShow.com/register. According to Show Management, the total number of first-time exhibitors at the 2013 SEMA Show (as of July 12) was already 417 and continuing to rise. With exhibitor registrations stronger than ever, buyers attending this year’s Show will have an unprecedented opportunity to connect with hundreds of new manufacturers and suppliers.

Registration is now open for the 2013 SEMA Show, Tuesday–Friday, November 5–8. Attendees, as well as the media, are invited to register for the annual Show online (www.SEMAShow.com).

“Preregistering online and obtaining approval in advance of the Show is the most efficient and economical way to obtain Show credentials,” said Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president of communications and events. “In addition to paying a lower cost, attendees receive their badges in the mail before the SEMA Show so that they can hit the floor running when they arrive.”

Spread across 12 sections, the SEMA Show covers an extremely wide spectrum of specialty equipment. For the best ROI, buyers should develop a pre-Show plan highlighting exhibitors in key market segments—paying particularly close attention to first-time exhibitors. The following list of first-timers represents the leading edge of what will be a strong freshmen class for the 2013 SEMA Show. Browse through and note businesses that you will visit during the 2013 SEMA Show, November 5–8. Start planning your trip by visiting www.SEMAShow.com.

Ex-Benneton Formula 1 driver and former winner of The 24 Hours Of Le Mans Davy Jones has agreed to be a Team Prototype Development Group (PDG) driver for this year’s 25 Hours of Thunderhill event in December. The agreement was reached after Jones tested with PDG in early June. After achieving respectable lap times, Jones and team owner Richard Migliori struck a deal for 2013. Scheduled for December 7–8, The 25 Hours Of Thunderhill is North America’s longest automotive endurance race.

Workshop Hero has teamed with Frank Fritz from History’s TV series “American Pickers” to serve as its spokesman. Fritz became a fan of the Workshop Hero Metal Rescue and Dry Coat after using the products in his own workshop.

LeMay America’s Car Museum (ACM) has signed an agreement with U.S. Bank to be the presenting sponsor of the 2013 Kirkland Concours d’Elegance, the 11th edition of the Pacific Northwest classic car show. Specialty classes for the 2013 event will be announced this summer. Since its inception in 2003, the Kirkland show has become a signature event for the Puget Sound region. BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY
By Jon Wyly

Confused About Data Management?

Top Five Reasons to Get Started Now!

Jon WylyBusiness is changing. And for those of us who have been in the industry for 20, 25, 30 years or more, it just feels different than it used to. I was talking to an old friend the other day who runs a specialty performance company, and he said, “You know, it just seems like nobody talks to each other on the phone anymore.” Yep, e-mail has changed the way we do business. The same sentiment can be heard in brick-and-mortar stores across the country in the form of, “You know, people don’t come into the store like they used to.” Yep, the Internet has changed the way we do business as well. So what’s the common thread that is replacing the long-standing virtues of face-to-face business, customer relationships and loyalty? If you ask me, it’s technology.

As we have talked about so many times before, today’s consumer is increasingly demanding and has a pretty short attention span. You can thank the Internet for that. E-commerce has introduced an expectation of instant results, which has caused consumers in many cases to forego old loyalties in exchange for convenience, speed and immediate availability of information.

So what does this mean to you and your business? Well, it’s rapidly becoming a “jump on board or get run over by the train” scenario. Information—in our case, product data—is driving sales more and more every day. If you are still waiting to see how this data thing is going to work out, you are on the verge of arriving too late in the game.

Here are our top five reasons why you should get started managing your product data now:

  • Product data availability drives growth by equipping new customers to immediately get up and running with your brand.
  • Quality product data is a requirement for doing business with many larger customers.
  • Your products cannot be sold on the Internet without ready availability of quality data.
  • Your own business systems will require good data, if they don’t already.
  • Your competitors are working on it right now.

Don’t let a wait-and-see attitude stall you for one more day. The future of your business depends on it.
