Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation AACF 65 anniversary

By SEMA News Editors

The Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation (AACF) has announced a new initiative to support its 65th anniversary in 2024.

Since its establishment in 1959, AACF has been at the forefront of providing vital assistance to individuals and families facing unimaginable hardships. AACF has been there when industry members need it most, from natural disasters to catastrophic medical conditions and life-altering accidents.

To mark this significant occasion, AACF has announced the launch of its 65th anniversary fundraiser. The goal? To rally 1,000 generous donors to contribute just $65 each. With your valued support, AACF can continue its mission of making a positive impact in the lives of those in our industry who need it most.

Here are some exciting ways your company can get involved and be a part of this incredible celebration:

  • Corporate donations: Showcase your commitment to corporate social responsibility by making a corporate donation to the AACF fundraiser. Your contribution will directly support the efforts in providing crucial assistance to individuals and families in need.
  • Employee engagement: Encourage your employees to join in the festivities by participating in employee campaigns. Whether it's through matching gift programs or fundraising events, involving your team will not only strengthen employee morale, but also foster a sense of community and purpose within your organization. Some companies are having contests between departments to see who can get the most $65 donations. Winner gets a pizza party--just one idea.
  • Social media challenges: Create social media challenges or campaigns that encourage employees to spread awareness about our anniversary fundraiser. Utilize these hashtags to amplify our message and reach a wider audience. #AACF65 #65YearsofSupport #AftermarketCharity.
  • Invite your dealers and suppliers to join the cause.

"As AACF celebrates 65 years of compassion, resilience and impact, we invite your company to join us in honoring our legacy and shaping a brighter future for those in need. Together, let's make a difference and create lasting change in the lives of our industry family," said AACF in a release.

Lingenfelter, Paragon Performance Collaborate on First Supercharged C8 Corvette E-Ray

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, in partnership with Paragon Performance, has successfully supercharged and fully integrated the C8 Corvette's supercharged LT2 with the E-Ray Corvette's electric drive system.

The project came together when Paragon Performance, an authorized Lingenfelter installer, called the company about supercharging an E-Ray.

Lingenfelter E Ray

The world's first supercharged C8 Corvette E-Ray was tested in SEMA Garage Detroit.

Lingenfelter started the process of upgrading the E-Ray by installing a set of forged Lingenfelter by MAHLE C8 Corvette High Performance Drop-in Pistons, and a Lingenfelter C8 Valve Spring and Pushrod Upgrade. The engine returned to the car where it received the Lingenfelter MAGNUSON TVS2650 Stage 1 C8 Supercharger Package.

Additional modifications were made to the heat exchanger system, according to Lingenfelter. Normally the center tunnel area houses the reservoir tank for the system, however, in the E-Ray the battery for the EV system takes up the entire tunnel area, so a custom tank was fabricated.

For more background on the E-Ray, check out a recap video from Lingenfelter here.

The SEMA Businesswomen's Network (SBN) welcomed more than 80 attendees to its 2024 Women's Leadership Forum last March in Austin, Texas.

Themed "EVOLVE: Advancing the Future of Women in Leadership," the event empowered women in the automotive aftermarket industry to advance in their careers. Attendees gained essential leadership skills through inspiring keynotes and engaging instruction from top-tier leadership experts.

The education seminars and workshops covered such topics as defining your individual roadmap, essential qualities of women who lead, how to lift up the next generation of women leaders and more.

SBN Women's Leadership Forum

"All of the speakers and all of the topics helped to bring me self-awareness and a reinvigorated focus on personal motivation to be better," said Kira Daczjo of Universal Technical Institute. "Whether it is to be better as a leader, communicate better, approaching topics differently, choosing to not be a victim and working to overcome your own insecurities, the event was a space to share and gain empowerment with other women."

"Work-life balance and intentionality are important when it comes to being a woman in business," said Celina Leggiere of Fox Factory, highlighting the impact of Ann Sheu's keynote, '2000 Free Days: 3 Mindset Shifts to Live a Radically Intentional Life.' "During her workshop, I was able to identify my values. This is something I had never done. Additionally, just being in the room with such powerful, like-minded and inspirational women impacted my mental health in great ways!"

"The completion of the Women's Leadership Forum was a very emotional experience," added Elizabeth Bosley of Dee Zee Manufacturing. "The validation from complete strangers that I am smart enough, I am worthy and I am good enough was something I never realized I needed. I believe this will help me not only in my personal life but in my professional life as well."

SBN Women's Leadership Forum

In addition to taking part in the two-day educational program, participants built business connections and friendships with other SBN members through dedicated networking events and received complimentary professional headshots.

Kia EV3 Caught Testing in Sweden

Kia has unveiled a new concept car, the EV3, signaling plans for a compact electric SUV that draws design inspiration from their latest electric three-row crossover, the EV9. While Kia hasn't confirmed a production version of the EV3, recent photos captured by SEMA News sources in northern Sweden suggest an official announcement is imminent.

Kia EV3

Details on the EV3's powertrain and range remain undisclosed due to the lack of confirmed production plans. However, it's anticipated that the EV3 will share key components with Kia's existing lineup of electric vehicles. The vehicle is expected to utilize Kia's 800V electrical architecture, with potential options for single- and dual-motor configurations and varying battery sizes, according to insiders.

While the production version of the EV3 is likely to closely resemble the concept in exterior design, significant changes are anticipated for the interior. The concept showcases innovative elements such as air jets replacing traditional HVAC vents on the instrument panel and a rear bench seat that folds upwards allowing for storage of bikes or scooters. The concept's mycelium-based center console material may not translate to production, but the extensive use of fabric coverings in the cabin is expected to remain a key feature.

Audi S6 and RS6 E-Tron GT

Recent photos captured in Germany hint at more electric models from Audi Sport: the RS6 e-Tron and the S6 e-Tron, both based on the upcoming all-electric A6. These prototypes, resembling the standard A6, reveal distinguishing features, such as wider wheel arches for the S6 and even wider ones for the RS6, along with upgraded brake packages featuring red calipers for the S6 and vented discs for the RS6.

Audi RS6

A concept of the A6 unveiled in 2021 showcased a 100kWh battery and dual-motor powertrain producing 469 hp. The RS6 is expected to match or exceed the 621 hp of today's gas-powered RS6 Avant, while the S6 will fit in between, insiders said.

Audi has also hinted at an RS6 Avant after indicating that the standard A6 will offer a wagon variant, as seen in the A6 Avant E-Tron concept last year.

The A6, along with its S and RS variants, is built on Volkswagen Group's new PPE modular EV platform for high-volume luxury models. This platform recently premiered in the Audi Q6 E-Tron crossover and is anticipated to underpin S and RS variants. The A6 and S6 are both expected later this year, with the RS version likely to follow within six months to a year, sources said.

"I also really liked the break-out sessions to help with the strategies to attract customers and professionals to your booth."

Indeed, the road to the SEMA Show begins with the Exhibitor Summit, the education-packed program featuring everything a company needs to deliver the best ROI from their SEMA Show experience.

This year's Summit, now in the Las Vegas Convention Center's West Hall, will feature new-for-2024 information straight from the people responsible for the industry-topping automotive specialty-equipment trade show.
