MASSEY GETS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON; HIGHT WINS THIRD OF THE YEAR, GRAY GRABS SECOND WIN OF CAREER AT TOPEKA: A week after collecting his first No. 1 qualifier of the season in Atlanta, Top Fuel pilot Spencer Massey raced to his first win of the season in his first final round of the season Sunday at the NHRA Summer Nationals in Heartland Park Topeka. Massey drove his Prestone/FRAM dragster past runner-up Bob Vandergriff to secure his third career win. For Vandergriff, it was his 13th runner-up finish without a win, the most in NHRA history.

“We have the consistency now and that’s what it takes to do it,” said Massey. “We’ve smoked our tires and beat ourselves. At Atlanta, we talked about getting down the track and make the other car beat us and that’s what we did (reaching the semis), and we did it again here at Topeka.”

Massey moved up one spot to fourth place in the point standings with the win. In Funny Car, defending event winner Robert Hight secured his second consecutive win at Heartland Park Topeka and third win of the season when he powered his Auto Club Ford Mustang past teammate Mike Neff, who was making his third final-round appearance in three races.

“I came to this race 16 years ago to be a part of John Force Racing and I thought then my dreams had come true,” said Hight. “I didn’t know what I was going to do, I didn’t care. To be part of history like this, 200 wins (for John Force Racing), this is now my dream come true. This is unbelievable.”

Hight’s win kept him secure in his third-place standing in the points, while teammate Neff still sits at the top. In Pro Stock, sophomore driver Shane Gray raced to his first win of the season and second of his career when he was able to hold off Greg Stanfield in the final round at Topeka.

“We’ve struggled pretty much since the year started, had car issues, engine issues, we just went back to the shop, regrouped, dissected the motor, dissected people, made probably 100 test runs, came here and the car ran really well,” said Gray.

	eBay Motors will sponsor the SEMA Cares Pinewood Drag Races for the third consecutive year.

eBay Motors will return for the third consecutive year as the presenting sponsor of the Pinewood Drag Races in support of the SEMA Cares children's charities. Held in conjunction with the annual SEMA Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser, the SEMA Cares Pinewood Drag Races will take place July 29, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach, California. The finals will occur during the cocktail reception shortly before the banquet begins. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit two worthwhile children’s charities—Childhelp and Victory Junction Gang Camp.

SEMA members in the Southeastern United States are invited to attend the pinewood car build at Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, North Carolina, on Thursday, June 23, from 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. Volunteers will work with special-needs campers to paint and build one-of-a-kind pinewood race cars for the annual SEMA Pinewood Drag Races. Chevrolet's new program will highlight its new small-car entry—the Sonic—seeking accessory-based projects from the specialty-equipment market.

Chevrolet will add a special program to its 2011 SEMA Show strategy. This program will highlight its new small-car entry—the Sonic—seeking accessory-based projects from the specialty-equipment market. To be considered, proposals must include the four General Motors criteria listed below for content and definition:

• An introductory letter defining the theme of the project vehicle (i.e. appealing to which market segment) and its general content, vehicle need date and project completion date.
• A list of specific system upgrades, including partnered sources, if appropriate. Please use the Excel formatted “Sheet B,” which will be provided by contacting Bob Kern (see below for contact information).
• A proposed list of intended events, trade shows, publications, etc., where the vehicle will be promoted. Availability for the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas is required. Please state where the vehicle will be displayed at the SEMA Show and who will sponsor the vehicle if it is placed in a feature spot. Note that partners are required to promote the vehicle through November 1, 2012. Proposals with guaranteed interior booth space will be given preferred consideration.
• 8½ x 11 color renderings illustrating front/side and rear appearance (composite ¾ views acceptable) with the intended color and graphic scheme accurately defined. If the interior will be significantly modified, an interior sketch is recommended as well. Preservation of front-end brand identity (divisional emblem and possibly grille features) is mandatory. High-resolution photos will be supplied for doing the sketch work when you contact Bob Kern.

SEMA members interested in developing a General Motors project vehicle for the 2011 SEMA Show are encouraged to prepare a Project Description Plan and submit three copies of the proposal, including a rendering on 8½ x 11 paper (stapled, not bound, please) to:
