The WD-40/SEMA Cares Foose ’53 Ford F-100, which was unveiled at the 2012 SEMA Show, will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, Friday, January 18, at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Designed by hot-rod designer and TV star Chip Foose, the WD-40/SEMA Cares Foose ’53 Ford F-100 commemorates the 60th anniversary of WD-40 multi-use product. With a vintage “shop-truck” look, updated drivetrain and suspension and custom paint, the pickup looks similar to the truck used to deliver the first case of the product in the early ’50s, back when WD-40 Co. was called Rocket Chemical Co.

Vehicle features include: an original flathead engine from Edelbrock, speed equipment from Egge, BASF Paint, one-off custom “vintage-look” Foose Wheels from MHT Wheels, Pirelli P Zero tires, restoration parts from LMC Truck, a custom Magnaflow exhaust and more. Other companies that pitched in include: Street Scene Equipment, L&R Engine, American Autowire, Painless Performance, Quiet Ride Solutions, K&N and McGard.

The auction will be broadcast live on the Speed Channel, and all proceeds from the auctioned vehicle will benefit two SEMA Cares charities—Childhelp, an organization that provides services to abused and neglected children, and Victory Junction, which provides life-changing camping experiences to special-needs and chronically ill children. WD-40 Co.’s last three vehicles have raised a combined $400,000 for these charities.

Rick Love, executive vice president of Vintage Air (and HRIA chairman), presents a session at the 2012 HRIA Education Day.

The Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) will once again host its Education & Training program in conjunction with the 15th Annual 2013 Hotrod and Restoration Show taking place March 14–16, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

“Education Day is a core initiative for SEMA’s HRIA. The program, which offers 40+ one-hour sessions, provides show attendees free world-class product training from industry-leading manufacturers over a two-day period,” said HRIA Council Director Zane Clark. “Attendees, many of whom are shop owners and builders, are given direct access to manufacturers and gain business-critical insight about new-product development and installation best practices. The whole experience, from the education to the training to the invaluable networking, truly results in an unparalleled learning experience.”

Jim Graven of the SEMA Data Co-op will lead a business technology session entitled, “Get Started and Grow Sales with the SEMA Data Co-op!” Manufacturers and resellers alike will find valuable information and answers to the basics of data management. Join the SEMA Data Co-op for a discussion in easy-to-understand language about how your product data can drive sales growth with very little investment. Topics will include the importance of "visibility" on the Internet, how to organize and distribute your product data the easy way and getting your business up-to-date with the digital world. This seminar is designed especially for sales, marketing and product managers, as well as company owners looking to get their share of growth in this challenging economy. The SEMA Data Co-op is an industry-owned, not-for-profit data-management solution dedicated to the success of the specialty-parts market.

To learn more, visit the Hotrod & Restoration Show website, or contact Zane Clark at 909-978-6696.
