SEMA members that sell or distribute products can now obtain an unlimited number of Product Data exports from the SEMA Data Co-op (SDC) at no cost.

SEMA members that are resellers or distributors can now obtain an unlimited number of product data exports from the SEMA Data Co-op (SDC) at absolutely no cost. The savings, available to any SEMA-member receiver in the SDC, totals $1,200 per year and is the newest incentive for members to join the SDC.

Launched in March 2012 with a beta test, the SDC is now a fully operational service that makes it possible for businesses to quickly and easily obtain valuable information about products from manufacturers. Information includes weights and measures, accurate descriptions, current pricing, UPCs, images and other digital assets and more. Details also include rich vehicle application data and power year/make/model look-ups.

"Our mission from the very beginning has been to facilitate broad, open distribution of product data throughout the industry with the goal of growing sales and market size," said Jon Wyly, SDC CEO. "By providing free unlimited exports to SEMA members, we will remove all obstacles for data receivers while providing a great reason to join SEMA and enjoy other benefits of membership. Coming off of a very successful SEMA Show, the SDC gained more than 40 new members, making the SDC data repository brand count among the largest in the industry. Now, with free data exports available, SEMA members can power their business systems and websites more affordably than ever.”

Nathan Ridnouer, SEMA vice president of councils and membership, commented, "What a great new reason for resellers to join SEMA. Not only will we save our members up to $1,200 each year through this program, but we’ll also help them get more out of their industry trade association. SEMA membership offers cost-saving benefits throughout the year, and resources to help businesses be more efficient and productive."

The SEMA Data Co-op is an industry-owned and -operated initiative designed to bring full product data management capabilities to participating suppliers, and to deliver clean, customized data exports to receivers at the lowest possible cost. Features include a secure, industry standards-based centralized data repository, extensive on-boarding tools, expert live training and technical assistance and unlimited standard or fully customized data exports.

To learn more about the program, visit www.SemaDataCoop.org or contact Jim Graven at JimG@SemaDataCoop.org or call 888-958-6698, ext. 4. To learn more about SEMA membership, please email members@sema.org or call 909-610-2030.

BJ Baldwin and Toyo Tires Win Second Consecutive Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 and 2013 SCORE Overall Point Championship
Toyo Tires and Team Toyo racer BJ Baldwin scored their second consecutive Baja 1000 victory and second consecutive SCORE Overall Point Championship last weekend at the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Baldwin drove the entire 883.1-mile course on his own. Baldwin finished first for the four-wheel vehicles with a time of 18:36:10.

Baldwin won the 2012 Baja 1000 and SCORE Overall Point Championship in similar fashion, then finished the 2013 Baja 500 in second place behind overall winner and fellow Team Toyo racer Robby Gordon, who was an early contender to win this year’s Baja 1000 until a broken front spindle required a lengthy 1.5-hour pit stop for repairs. Gordon fought his way back to a sixth-place finish in the Trophy Truck division. Winning Class 1 and finishing seventh in the four-wheel category was Damen Jefferies driving his #121 Jefferies-Chevy open wheel buggy.

During the 2014 MPMC Media Trade Conference, journalists will have the opportunity to conduct private interviews with leading manufacturers.

Media registration for the 2014 MPMC Media Trade Conference is now open.

Journalists—including freelancers, bloggers, TV reporters and magazine writers—are invited to sit down in private, uninterrupted meetings with executives from manufacturing companies. Reporters are able to select representatives from the companies they wish to meet, so that they are only meeting with companies that are relevant to their outlet. Early registration ensures that reporters will receive the best possible schedule in advance of the event taking place January 21–23, 2014, at the Embassy Suites Orange County Airport North in Santa Ana, California.

Notes to media applicants:
  • During registration, you will be able to select the companies you need to meet with. Please pay close attention to the companies you select, as SEMA will make every effort possible to secure them into your schedule. It will be difficult to make changes after your schedule is set. Be sure to mark “Do Not Meet” for those companies that absolutely do not fit with your editorial needs.
  • The 2014 event will feature more than one dozen manufacturers that were not part of the previous event. Please review the list of exhibitors closely to ensure you select any and all relevant manufacturers.
  • Simply submit one registration form for your group, regardless of the number of people that will be participating in your group.
  • If you have freelance writers that you may want to send to the event, have them register independently. The MPMC Media Trade Conference is open to all editorial media, whether working on a magazine, website or freelance assignment.
For details about media registration, contact Della Domingo at dellad@sema.org or 909-978-6723. For exhibitor information about the event, contact Jim Skelly at jims@sema.org or 909-978-6690.
