The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) have selected three finalists for the SEMA-NACAT Education Award, a recognition given to automotive educators who emphasize and instruct aftermarket technology in their classrooms.

SEMA Show exhibitors have cast their votes and selected vehicles that represent the best business opportunities for the aftermarket in five categories: car, truck, 4x4/SUV, sport compact and powersports vehicle.
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law SEMA-supported legislation (SB 112) that immediately restores “fix-it” tickets for cars suspected of violating the state’s exhaust noise limit and allows car owners 30 days to correct violations. SB 112 amends a 2018 law (AB 1824) that removed this ability and which generated significant concern within the specialty automotive aftermarket industry and enthusiast community.

Thanks to the efforts of Assembly Members Tim Grayson (D-Concord), Tasha Boerner-Horvath (D-Oceanside), Phil Ting (D-San Francisco), Phil Chen (R-Diamond Bar), Senator Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), and enthusiasts throughout California, state lawmakers have approved SEMA-supported legislation (SB 112) that restores “fix-it” tickets for cars suspected of violating the state’s exhaust noise limit. Once signed into law by California Governor Gavin Newsom, SB 112 will take effect immediately.
Automotive enthusiasts who would like to take a look at some of the top vehicles and products from the 2019 trade-only SEMA Show can do so at SEMA Ignited, the official SEMA Show after-party, which will be held Nov. 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Platinum Lot, on the east side of LVCC (on Swenson Street, between Desert Inn Road and Sierra Vista Drive).

SEMA Showgoers are encouraged to use hotel shuttles and the Las Vegas Monorail to get to and from the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, as parking will be impacted by construction at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the event in early November. Free hotel shuttle service will be available to and from the Las Vegas Convention Center and more than 35 hotels, and discounted tickets are available to Showgoers for the Las Vegas Monorail, which will operate at extended hours during the week of the SEMA Show.
Applications for the SEMA Young Guns Regional Competition taking place at the 2019 Goodguys West Coast Nationals, presented by BASF, at the Alameda Fair Grounds in late August are available at www.semayoungguns.com . Vehicle builders age 27 and younger are invited to apply for a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two, transportation of the winner’s vehicle, a designated feature spot at the 2019 trade-only SEMA Show, and automatic entry into the 2019 SEMA Battle of the Builders competition.
Buyers at the 2019 SEMA Show will be able to see products and vehicles specifically for overlanding in the all-new SEMA Overland Experience area. The dedicated section in the Performance Pavilion will feature dozens of customized vehicles with fully popped out tents, sunshades fully outfitted for survival and portable kitchen systems displayed alongside exhibitors supporting the growing overlanding market.
