Reid Lunde, owner and founder of Kaizen Speed, was named winner of the seventh annual SEMA Launch Pad, presented by the Young Executives Network. Lunde pitched his invention in front of a packed audience at the Westgate Theater in Las Vegas and won over a panel of distinguished judges. His winning product has a solution for designing, installing and calibrating a complete performance package into a whole new experience.

EMA Show exhibitors voted on the vehicles that represent the best business opportunities for the aftermarket in five categories. The announcement was made at the SEMA Vehicle Reveal, Monday, Nov. 4, the evening before the first day of the four-day SEMA Show.

Eighty-three percent of automotive specialty-equipment retailers report stable or growing sales in recent years, dispelling reports of a “retailpocalypse” and showing that the more than 3,000 SEMA member retailers are primed for continued growth, according to the new SEMA Retail Landscape Research Report.

SEMA President & CEO Chris Kersting today praised U.S. Senators Richard Burr (R-NC) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) along with 24 original cosponsors for reintroducing S. 2602, the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports Act of 2019 (RPM Act).  This bipartisan bill protects Americans’ right to convert street vehicles into dedicated racecars and the motorsports parts industry’s right to sell products that enable racers to compete.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) filed a petition in federal appellate court to require the government to allow replica car manufacturers to immediately begin production. Under a 2015 law—the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act)—low volume automakers may sell up to 325 replica cars each year that resemble production vehicles manufactured at least 25 years ago. The FAST Act set a deadline of December 4, 2016, for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to issue any necessary regulations to implement the law. The agency has yet to take any action.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) today announced the winner of the Young Guns Fan Vote competition who will receive a prize package that includes an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the 2019 SEMA Show, transportation of the winner’s vehicle, a designated feature spot at the Show and entry into the Battle of the Builders competition. Chelsie Lesnoski of Penticton, BC, Canada and her 2013 Scion FR-S was chosen by her peers in a public fan vote competition that ran from Sept. 14 to Oct. 4, 2019.
