SEMA Show 2013, Products for Project VehiclesExhibitors looking to get their products on more display vehicles at the 2013 SEMA Show are invited to participate in the Products for Project-Vehicle Builders List.

Exhibitors of the 2013 SEMA Show have the opportunity to expand their reach at the Show by offering products to builders through the Products for Project-Vehicle Builders List. Builders continuously look for the key pieces and products to add visual spice to their builds. The list helps connect manufacturers looking for extra product exposure with the pros that create trendsetting vehicles that capture the imaginations of media and buyers from around the world.

This type of product-placement opportunity is so valuable that manufacturers often offer builders products for free or at greatly reduced rates. The intention of the list is to make builders aware of potential products available. All product-placement decisions and negotiations are the responsibility of the manufacturers and the builders. Participation in the list does not guarantee product placement at the 2013 SEMA Show.

To participate in the list, access the Products for Project-Vehicle Builders form.

The latest additions to the list will be included each week in SEMA eNews, when available. The list is open to exhibitors of the 2013 SEMA Show only and is intended to build awareness for SEMA Show exhibitors and their products.

For questions or additional information, contact Jason Catullo at jasonc@sema.org or call 909-978-6713.

Mike Schultz Selected as Royal Purple's Next "Outperformer"
Royal Purple has announced Mike Schultz as the subject of its second "Outperformer" mini-documentary series for the 2013 season. Schultz is a championship racer and pioneer in the field of adaptive action sports. The five-minute documentary tells Schultz’ story of "Outperformance," including the motivations that drove him to triumph following a devastating accident; inspiring others to return to extreme sports following potentially career-ending injuries; and how he became one of the best in his field both as a racer and an inventor.

Following a lengthy recovery from a racing accident in 2008 resulting in an above-the-knee amputation, Schultz maintained a steadfast determination to be the best, vowing a return to his career of snowmobile and motorcycle racing. Unfortunately, existing prosthetic limbs couldn’t cope with the extreme forces or offer the control needed to compete in sports, such as Motocross and snocross to the level he needed. Within months of his accident, Schultz started to develop a revolutionary model for an artificial limb that relied on finely machined parts ordinarily used on downhill mountain bikes. He created a prosthesis that more accurately replicates the user’s missing limb and offers unparalleled control during even the most extreme of sports activities.

The Moto Knee resulted from this early work, and as chief tester, Schultz would refine the design as he recovered and prepared to return to racing. Based on the success of the Moto Knee, Shultz founded Biodapt Inc., specializing in performance prosthetics and adaptive equipment. His return to racing yielded five podium finishes and four wins at ESPN’s winter and summer X Games for adaptive Snocross and Supercross.

In addition to Schultz, Royal Purple profiled female drag and pro stock driver Nicole Lyons earlier this year as part of its "Outperformer" series. A third and final "Outperformer" will be announced later this year to conclude the 2013 series season.

LoanMart Puts $250 Bounty on Irwindale Twin Trophy Dashes

Following this first week's paring, and for the rest of the 2013 racing season at Irwindale Speedway, each night two divisions will be chosen by track officials. All NASCAR third and half-mile divisions will be eligible.

Each six-lap race will be a full invert with the fastest qualifier starting last. LoanMart has added some extra incentive with the offer of a matching $250 if the car setting the fastest time for the night wins the "LoanMart Dash."

Each night's LoanMart Trophy Dashes will run, first thing, back-to-back, right out of the box at 7:00 p.m. This Saturday night, the Lates and Super Lates will be joined by the Superior Automotive Engineering Super Stocks, the SRL S2 Tour Series, the Pick Your Part Trailer Races and a new entry, the Pick Your Part Open Comp division that will race on the third-mile.

Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen will race their resurrected No. 22 WeatherTech.ca Porsche for this weekend's American Le Mans Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Grand Prix of Mosport, July 19–21. Bleekemolen was taken out with just four laps remaining at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago while running second in GTC, destroying the WeatherTech.ca Porsche. The team was able to get a 911 body from Porsche to rebuild the black-and-white racer. Every useable part, including the electronics, were transferred over to the new shell. Despite the crash, the duo is just five points out of the GTC points lead.

scrs
SCRS reports an attendee registration increase of more than 250% (YTD) in comparison to the same time period last year.

Since 2010, the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has provided the Repairer Driven Education (RDE) series during the Show, attracting record-breaking attendance numbers with each year.

As of July 1, SCRS reports an attendee registration increase of more than 250% (YTD) in comparison to the same time period last year. With more than four months remaining until the Show opens, Tuesday, November 5, the pace at which the program is gaining registrations is a tremendous indicator that the 2013 SEMA Show will be the destination for professionals in the collision-repair industry.

"We are extremely proud of the series we have developed this year, and still have some additional programming we are working on to even further amplify the experience this fall," shared SCRS Chairman Ron Reichen. "Attendee reaction to our events is always the best indicator of whether or not we are delivering what the industry is looking for in our series. Based on the feedback we have received so far, and the extremely compelling numbers, we are confident that the varied content is going to provide very tangible value to all involved."

The RDE series isn't the only area of the Show where the collision industry is demonstrating early spikes in activity. Show management numbers through the end of June indicated an increase in collision industry exhibitor counts, square footage occupied by exhibiting collision industry companies and both overall and collision-focused attendee registration.

While the primary activities for the collision-repair industry take place in the Collision Repair & Refinish section of the Show in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, industry meetings, forums and newly expanded Show floor space also extend into the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (LVH). In addition, many collision industry companies take advantage of space that is available in virtually every area of the Show. Areas, such as Tools & Equipment (North Hall), Restyling & Car Care Accessories (North Hall), Racing & Performance (Central Hall), Hot Rod Alley (Central Hall) and the First Time & Featured Exhibitors (LVH), all feature companies that have a strong collision-repair focus.

"Since the early stages of our discussions, our partnership with SCRS has focused on providing opportunity to the industries we each represent," added Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president of communications and events. "The fact that the collision-repair community has become such an integral part of so many areas of the Show, and has demonstrated such annual growth, really emphasizes the benefits derived from industry involvement in the premier global automotive specialty destination in the world. We are proud to boast that SEMA Show attendees will be exposed to educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events and networking opportunities, and believe that our collaboration with SCRS has been a leading contribution to those opportunities."

A complete listing of the RDE sessions can be found at www.semashow.com/scrs. The 2013 Repairer Driven Education program is currently sponsored by SEMA, GM Genuine Parts, BASF Refinish, Ford Motor Co. and AkzoNobel Coatings.
