Mike Schultz Selected as Royal Purple's Next "Outperformer"
Royal Purple has announced Mike Schultz as the subject of its second "Outperformer" mini-documentary series for the 2013 season. Schultz is a championship racer and pioneer in the field of adaptive action sports. The five-minute documentary tells Schultz’ story of "Outperformance," including the motivations that drove him to triumph following a devastating accident; inspiring others to return to extreme sports following potentially career-ending injuries; and how he became one of the best in his field both as a racer and an inventor.

Following a lengthy recovery from a racing accident in 2008 resulting in an above-the-knee amputation, Schultz maintained a steadfast determination to be the best, vowing a return to his career of snowmobile and motorcycle racing. Unfortunately, existing prosthetic limbs couldn’t cope with the extreme forces or offer the control needed to compete in sports, such as Motocross and snocross to the level he needed. Within months of his accident, Schultz started to develop a revolutionary model for an artificial limb that relied on finely machined parts ordinarily used on downhill mountain bikes. He created a prosthesis that more accurately replicates the user’s missing limb and offers unparalleled control during even the most extreme of sports activities.

The Moto Knee resulted from this early work, and as chief tester, Schultz would refine the design as he recovered and prepared to return to racing. Based on the success of the Moto Knee, Shultz founded Biodapt Inc., specializing in performance prosthetics and adaptive equipment. His return to racing yielded five podium finishes and four wins at ESPN’s winter and summer X Games for adaptive Snocross and Supercross.

In addition to Schultz, Royal Purple profiled female drag and pro stock driver Nicole Lyons earlier this year as part of its "Outperformer" series. A third and final "Outperformer" will be announced later this year to conclude the 2013 series season.

LoanMart Puts $250 Bounty on Irwindale Twin Trophy Dashes
LoanMart will feature two Irwindale divisions—the Late Models and and Super Late Models—in the LoanMart Trophy Dashes at the Irwindale Speedway this Saturday night. Following this first week's paring, and for the rest of the 2013 racing season at Irwindale Speedway, each night two divisions will be chosen by track officials. All NASCAR third and half-mile divisions will be eligible.

Each six-lap race will be a full invert with the fastest qualifier starting last. LoanMart has added some extra incentive with the offer of a matching $250 if the car setting the fastest time for the night wins the "LoanMart Dash."

Each night's LoanMart Trophy Dashes will run, first thing, back-to-back, right out of the box at 7:00 p.m. This Saturday night, the Lates and Super Lates will be joined by the Superior Automotive Engineering Super Stocks, the SRL S2 Tour Series, the Pick Your Part Trailer Races and a new entry, the Pick Your Part Open Comp division that will race on the third-mile.

MacNeil and Bleekemolen to Race at Mosport in Resurrected Porsche
Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen will race their resurrected No. 22 WeatherTech.ca Porsche for this weekend's American Le Mans Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Grand Prix of Mosport, July 19–21. Bleekemolen was taken out with just four laps remaining at Lime Rock Park two weeks ago while running second in GTC, destroying the WeatherTech.ca Porsche. The team was able to get a 911 body from Porsche to rebuild the black-and-white racer. Every useable part, including the electronics, were transferred over to the new shell. Despite the crash, the duo is just five points out of the GTC points lead.
