In order to meet the growing needs of the automotive aftermarket industry, the Aftermarket Foundation has announced that the organization is actively searching to hire a full-time executive director.

“We are the only not-for-profit charity dedicated solely to helping automotive aftermarket industry members and their families in times of need, and have been doing so very quietly for over 55 years,” stated Aftermarket Foundation President Robert Bob Hirsch. “Our Foundation is presently comprised of 29 trustees, and over 250 supporting associations, corporations and individuals, each of which is committed to helping individuals within our aftermarket ‘family,’ who have fallen on hard times due to catastrophic circumstances, with no place to turn for assistance.”

Hirsch added, “In recent years, we have adopted a number of programs to raise awareness of the foundation, and as a result, demand is growing, we are expanding our reach and meeting the needs of a broader-based and ever-growing number of individuals. We have determined that the time has come to appoint a full-time executive director, whose job it will be to co-ordinate and execute on all our programs of awareness and support.”

Since 1959, the Aftermarket Foundation has assisted individuals and families of the automotive aftermarket industry that have fallen on hard times due to an unexpected death, catastrophic injury, serious illness or financial hardship. Board members are called upon to assist in the fundraising efforts and to also assist in the identification of those in need.

“This should be a challenging but enjoyable and rewarding position for the right candidate,” said Hirsch. “The Aftermarket Foundation is undergoing significant change, and an even further spread of its reach so, while there is much to do, the potential for achievement is fantastic and should be appealing to interested candidates.”

The foundation has established a Search Committee, and has retained the highly respected Washington, D.C.-based executive search firm, Vetted Solutions LLC, to coordinate the search.

Individuals with executive capability and familiarity with the automotive aftermarket industry who are interested in the position are invited to contact James Zaniello, Vetted Solutions, at jim.zaniello@vettedsolutions.com or 202-544-4749.

The 2014 SEMA Award winners from each category will be announced at a press conference Tuesday morning at the 2014 SEMA Show.

The SEMA Award recognizes vehicle models that specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorization and to showcase the year's newest products. The winners each year are determined by counting the vehicles that SEMA Show exhibitors choose to invest in and display in their booths.

With less than a week before the 2014 SEMA Show opens, pre-Show exhibitor data indicates the most frequently chosen vehicles in each of four categories. That data illustrates which vehicle models SEMA exhibitors believe will resonate with the enthusiast community in the coming year. The list of top vehicles provides a snapshot of platforms that the specialty-parts industry will invest in as a whole.

The top three vehicles in each category are as follows:

Hottest Truck

  • Chevrolet Silverado
  • Dodge Ram
  • Ford F-Series

Hottest Car

  • Chevrolet Camaro
  • Chevrolet Corvette
  • Ford Mustang

Hottest SUV/4x4

  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Jeep Wrangler
  • Toyota 4Runner

Hottest Sport Compact

  • BMW 3-Series
  • BMW 4-Series
  • Honda Fit

From this group of finalists, a single winner in each category will be announced at a press conference Tuesday morning at the 2014 SEMA Show.

The 2014 SEMA Show will feature more than 2,400 exhibiting companies that manufacture thousands of products designed to improve performance, safety and convenience, as well as those that enhance appearance and comfort. While products are available for every make and model, exhibitors invest more in some vehicles than others. By taking note of the SEMA Award winners, consumers can expect to find great specialty products for accessorizing these vehicles. SEMA studies have shown that display of accessorized vehicles significantly influences sales at the retail level.

Quick Facts

  • The SEMA Award identifies and spotlights the new models that SEMA Show exhibitors plan to invest the most time, energy and dollars into.
  • The Award predicts popularity in the enthusiast community and signals which new vehicle models enthusiasts find most appealing.
  • By identifying an emerging trend, the SEMA Award helps drive the direction of an industry that generates $33 billion per year in the United States alone.
  • Eligibility: New 2014–2015 model-year cars, trucks, 4x4-SUVs and sport compacts.
  • Trophies will be awarded in four categories.
  • Exclusive to OEM exhibitors
  • Scoring: Based on the number of booth vehicles.
  • Press Conference: Media breakfast, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, 7:30 a.m.–8:45 a.m., Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, Ballroom A.

The Red Bull Global Rallycross season finale will be held at The LINQ Promenade during the 2014 SEMA Show.

The Red Bull Global Rallycross will return to Las Vegas for its season finale for the third consecutive year, November 4–5. Tickets are now on sale, and 30% savings on all tickets are available by using the SEMA discount code “SEMAVEGAS.”

Held in partnership with Caesars Entertainment, which is the host venue, presenting sponsor and event partner, the action will take place at The LINQ Hotel & Casino during the 2014 SEMA Show.

For the first time in series history, four drivers enter the finale with a chance at the championship: Ken Block, winner of the 2013 Las Vegas race; former Formula 1 stars Scott Speed and Nelson Piquet Jr.; and defending GRC Lites champion Joni Wiman. The four championship-eligible drivers have combined for four victories, 16 podiums and eight poles so far in 2014. All four drivers are within 30 points of one another entering the final race, meaning that the best finisher among them in Las Vegas will likely take home the season-long championship.

Other drivers planning to compete include 2012 Las Vegas winner Tanner Foust; multiple X Games gold medalists Brian Deegan and Bucky Lasek; current GRC Lites champion Mitchell DeJong; and Sverre Isachsen, winner of the series’ most recent race at DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, Washington.

The parking lot adjacent to The LINQ Promenade and at the base of the High Roller—the world’s tallest observation wheel—will be transformed into a high-octane motorsports playground, featuring dirt, asphalt and tabletop jumps signature to the series. Specific track layout information will be released in the coming weeks.

Purchase tickets to Red Bull Global Rallycross Las Vegas at The LINQ. The race will be broadcast on NBC, Sunday, November 16, at 1:30 p.m. (EST).
