Collector Car Appreciation Day Makes Headlines

Americans celebrated the third annual Collector Car Appreciation Day throughout the country last July. From car clubs and businesses to SEMA and its members, the country came together to recognize the automobile’s contribution to America’s heritage. The official blog site for the Hawaii State Legislature covered the gathering that took place at the state capital. There, the owner of SEMA-member Hawaii Performance Warehouse accepted a resolution from the House designating July 13 as Collector Car Appreciation Day in Hawaii.

 

Winnipeg Sun

Proving that the automotive hobby extends beyond U.S. borders, Canada’s Manitoba Association of Auto Clubs hosted one of the larger celebrations that took place. With more than 300 vehicles participating in 2011, it was no surprise that the group attracted the attention of the media and got some great pre-event publicity.

Reaching enthusiasts nationwide, SPEED TV highlighted the holiday on its website, encouraging all enthusiasts to take part in the celebration. “…Even if you’re not taking part in an organized event, be sure to get your automotive relic out of the garage and drive it….”

 

Hotrod & Restoration Magazine

Based in Southern California, the trade magazine Hotrod & Restoration came out to join the SEMA team in Diamond Bar, California. In addition to enjoying the food, music and cars at SEMA headquarters, reporter Devlin Smith had a chance to talk to the SEMA staff about the significance of the event.
