The SEMA Product Development Expo, held mid-April, provided attendees with an insider's look at the impact of the vehicle design and production decisions automaker's are making now that will change how specialty-equipment companies make products in the future. The expo also featured tours of the SEMA Garage – Industry Innovations Center and the highlighted the latest product-development tools, technologies, services and resources available to members.
Each of the sessions, which featured experts with backgrounds in automotive design, aftermarket manufacturing, mobile apps, and industry research, were recorded and are available for viewing anytime.

One of the sessions, "Silicon Valley Versus Motor City: Automotive Apps and Driving Connected, covers the latest of mobile app development and how companies can create apps that work directly with wide range of OEM systems.
Additional sessions available on video include: "Tapping Your Inner Futurist: The Future of Transportation and Mobility;" "You Can't Fake Cool - Next-Generation Design and Customization;" and "You Can't Fake Cool - Next-Generation Design and Customization."
The tours of the SEMA Garage introduced participants the industry-owned facility that is available to assist members with creating and designing specialty automotive products. Outfitted with more than $2 million worth of equipment, the SEMA Garage features a complete emissions-testing cell for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) certification. In addition, a 3D lab, complete with a Faro arm and a 3D scanner are available to quickly scan production cars and accurately model production parts.
Participants were also provided with a first look at the SEMA Garage's newly opened media cove. This latest resource is fully equipped for video and photo shoots of products and full vehicles.
