Successful Body Shop Management for the 21st Century

Friday, November 5, 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
Attendees will learn about and discuss new business processes, technologies, performance measurements and LPIs required to operate a successful collision repair business in the 21st century. The session will introduce repairers to 21st-century estimating, parts, production, financial, customer service and communications processes, technologies and performance measurements designed to help find or save thousands of dollars per month in sales, revenue opportunities and cash-flow improvements.
Participants will also learn how to cut unnecessary costs and expenses while improving cycle time, quality and customer satisfaction. Advertising and marketing in the 21st century is much different than it was in the ’90s, and the session will also introduce owners and managers to marketing, advertising and communication processes, technologies and strategies to properly engage the "next generation."

Waterborne: How to Stay Afloat (panel discussion)

Thursday, Nov. 4, 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
This panel discussion will feature four to five shops that have converted their repair facility to waterborne, and will explore the dynamics of their individual experiences. The moderated discussion will explore the challenges and benefits of their research, implementation of the product into their operation and will offer businesses considering the switch to a water-based paint department a firsthand look at what to expect in the process.
Panelists will share how they successfully made the switch; warn of pitfalls; and offer advice for shops looking to make a successful conversion. The panel will also feature a Q&A session with the seminar attendees to address specific concerns from shops interested in a better understanding of the process.
"Support throughout the waterborne conversion process is critical,” Bargnes says. “In this session, we’ll hear from shop owners who have successfully converted to waterborne products and explore the various support elements, including help from local jobbers, that made the change successful. Beyond compliance requirements, there are a variety of factors that a shop owner may want to consider in making the change to waterborne products. Our panelists will address their motivations for considering a change and discuss their rationale and strategies for implementing successful conversions."
