LANGDON, HAGAN, JONES AND KRAWIEC END 2013 SEASON VICTORIOUS: Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), Matt Hagan (Funny Car), Rickie Jones (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) finished their 2013 seasons on a high note by winning the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals. Langdon won the opening event at Pomona, and with his season-ending victory, he became just the sixth racer in Top Fuel history to sweep both Pomona events.
NHRA Funny Car icon John Force, the 15-time NHRA world champion and winner of an NHRA record 137 national events, was a special guest at the 2013 NHRA Breakfast at the SEMA Show Wednesday morning.
BROWN, J. FORCE, SHANE GRAY AND MATT SMITH WIN BIG IN LAS VEGAS: Antron Brown (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car), Shane Gray (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) hit the jackpot in their respective categories in Las Vegas by taking event wins at the NHRA Toyota Nationals. Force and Smith also clinched world championship titles during the course of the event. Force won his fourth race, his third consecutive win and his 16th championship.
LANGDON AND J. FORCE LOOK TO HIT THE JACKPOT IN THE NITRO CLASSES AT THE NHRA TOYOTA NATIONALS: Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel) and John Force (Funny Car) race in to the NHRA Toyota Nationals atop the points in their respecitve categories and will aim to strike it rich at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, October 24–27. Langdon has six wins this season, which leads Top Fuel, but knows that the championship is still up for grabs and they need success in the final eight rounds of racing.
LUCAS TO STEP AWAY FROM DRIVING IN 2014; CRAMPTON WILL FILL LUCAS OIL DRAGSTER SEAT: Morgan Lucas, who has nine career Top Fuel wins, will step out of the cockpit in the 2014 season to concentrate on his family-owned Lucas Oil Products company. Taking over driving duties will be Richie Crampton, who hails from Adelaide, South Australia, and recently earned his Top Fuel license during a test session at Lucas Oil Raceway. Lucas will race in select events in 2014 but won't campaign the full season.
LANGDON, J. FORCE, COUGHLIN, SMITH SECURE WINS AT AUTO-PLUS NHRA NATIONALS: Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) took home wins at the recently completed Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. For Langdon, this was his category-leading sixth win of the season and keeps his points lead over Doug Kalitta.
BROWN, J. FORCE, ENDERS-STEVENS, SMITH TASTE SUCCESS AT AAA INSURANCE NHRA MIDWEST NATIONALS: In the shadow of the St. Louis Arch, Antron Brown (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car), Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all secured victories at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals. Brown notched his third win of the year and jumped from eighth to sixth in points.
The feature film, "Snake & Mongoose," about the life and times of legendary drag racers, Don ("the Snake") Prudhomme and Tom ("the Mongoose") McEwen, has been incredibly received, and is opening this weekend in San Diego, Salt Lake City and Evansville, Indiana.
KALITTA, LINE SCORE WINS AND TAKE POINTS LEADS; C. PEDREGON AND KRAWIEC CLAIM EVENT VICTORIES AT DALLAS: Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Eddie Krawiec (Pro Stock Motorcycle) raced to victories at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals. With the Pro Stock victory, Line took over the outright points lead, and Kalitta is now tied for the Top Fuel lead with Shawn Langdon. In the Top Fuel finals, it was Kalitta vs. Langdon with the Mac Tools dragster of Kalitta rocketing to his first win of the year.
LUCAS, HIGHT, COUGHLIN AND HINES RACE TO WINS AT OPENING COUNTDOWN TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS: Morgan Lucas (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car), Jeg Coughlin (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) took home victories at the Carlyle Tools NHRA Carolina Nationals presented by NAPA Auto Parts Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina. This was the first of six races in the Countdown to the Championship and set a tone for the championship push. Lucas, racing a newly in-house constructed dragster, defeated Spencer Massey in the finals for his second win of the year.
