SEMA Show Day 2 packed floor

Across the 2025 SEMA Show, which continues today through Friday, November 7, exhibitors are seeing strong engagement from buyers, builders, and technicians eager to discover products that make custom work faster, smarter, and more accessible.

For Phillip Draheim at Formlabs, this year's SEMA Show proved to be a success, attracting a healthy amount of buyer and attendee attention at their booth in North Hall, Booth #12716. "[There has been] lots of traffic, lots of diverse interests, and lots of applications," he said, pointing out that industry members from all facets of the aftermarket can use their 3D printers for a variety of products and prototypes.

"There's just a lot of custom need in the automotive industry. A lot of people want to make custom things or stuff that they just don't have access to, or the tools to be able to build the stuff that they want, or maybe it's just really expensive or really complex. So, [3D printing] is a great solution for that," Draheim said.

"[The SEMA Show] gives us exposure to the automotive culture. We get a lot of feedback from mechanics and shop owners," said Robert DiPede of Teslong, North Hall, Booth #12761. "We make versatile inspection cameras for any kind of use that you can imagine. [One] tool will allow you to take video and images that you can send to your customer and actually show them where the damage is in their car."

Pivotal, a manufacturer based in Palo Alto, California, is making waves with its Helix flying vehicle aircraft.

"A lot of people refer to this as a flying car, but there's not a whole lot of car aspect to it. Right now, it's a wonderful machine to fly from a property, take the wings off, and transport it in a trailer, perfect for going camping or taking on a road trip. It's very flexible," said Cal Cruickshank of Pivotal, who also pointed to some real-world practical applications, too. "In more remote areas, say, places that take more than 10 minutes for an ambulance to get to--in some cases, that's not quick enough. So we're actively demoing and--more news to come--but working with fire departments to get paramedics on scenes more quickly to stabilize patients and wait for the rest of the crew to arrive."

The machine is actually the first of its kind tilt-body aircraft as well. "So instead of tilting the props, we tilt the entire aircraft, which removes a lot of weight. The whole thing weighs 348 lbs., including the ballistic parachute that brings the whole aircraft down in the case of an emergency, as well as the emergency floats," Cruickshank said.

Day 2 packed SEMA Show floor

"Made in the USA" was also seen on several booths and products, including Lenoco CNC in Deerfield, Florida.

"We make all our products in the USA. We have around 1,500 clients who rely on our machines, a lot of them at the SEMA Show, but we still have room for growth. We're continually improving our products," said Rob Wallace of Lenoco, which was showcasing its advanced wheel repair equipment this year.

"Our CNC wheel lathes allow users to skim a very light amount off the surface of the wheel to give it its original finish. So instead of throwing your wheel out—say, if you hit the curb and get some curb rash—you can refurbish it with our machine. Dealerships, mechanical shops, body shops, wheel and tire shops, anyone who deals with customers 0would do very well with this product."

You can see the lathe in action and related wheel accessories for yourself in the Upper South Hall, Booth #35102.

FutureTech Studio

The SEMA Show brings today's aftermarket trends to life across 4.5-million sq. ft. of exhibit space with brands from every corner of the automotive industry showcasing their latest innovations, the parts and products that are meeting the needs of today's automotive world. But one corner of the SEMA Show is dedicated to the next era of mobility, offering a glimpse of the automotive aftermarket technology of tomorrow.

Located in Central Hall, the FutureTech Studio (booth #24401) celebrates ingenuity from every corner of the industry, whether it's a garage-built breakthrough or a multimillion-dollar prototype, and explores four core themes that represent the future of mobility: fuels, drivetrains, manufacturing and technology.

On the fuels front, there are several examples of the next generation of energy sources in the dedicated, including a hydrogen-powered Honda CR-V that raced at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and an ethanol-powered vehicle from Bisimoto, as well as alternative drivetrains and vehicles, like vintage rides swapped to run on electric power and even a "flying car" from Pivotal.

As in many industries, technological advances like artificial intelligence (AI), advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), connected platforms and more have created a new frontier for manufacturers and builders. Dedicated education sessions and panels held in the FutureTech booth have highlighted the many ways in which those advances are impacting the industry, as well as how they are shaping its future.

Innovative drivetrain architectures are also a focus of this dedicated Show space, highlighting how traditional platforms are evolving to meet the demands of modern mobility, not just for everyday use, but for high-performance applications, too. One such application was unveiled at the FutureTech booth: a '69 Chevrolet Camaro from Blazin' Rodz with a hybrid powertrain capable of reaching more than 200 mph and producing a combined 1,600 HP.

FutureTech Studio Blazin Rodz

While the actual vehicle is still in development, the Orange County, California-based hot-rod shop brought a 1:3-scale model and a full-size front-end suspension assembly to reveal at the Show, reaffirming the crew's commitment to pushing the limits of modern technology. It's an attribute that was previously demonstrated by its '70 Chevelle "Doughboy" build, which won the Best Engineered Vehicle of the Year at the 2024 SEMA Show thanks to its numerous custom or heavily modified components designed with advanced technologies like 3D scanning, design and manufacturing.

The Blazin' Rodz team has again made that a critical component of its new Camaro, utilizing printed materials in not only the development and prototyping phases, but in the final product, too. Partnering with HP Additive Manufacturing, Blazin' Rodz will use 3D printing to build the inner material of the vehicle's tube chassis--which the carbon fiber body will bond to--and other components that can be precisely and repeatedly produced (the car will ultimately go into limited production).

It's one of many ways in which the '69 Camaro will break new ground, along with a patent-pending suspension system that combines torsion bars with pneumatic air springs and hydraulic pushrods to continuously adapt stiffness and ride height in real time. The hybrid component, powered by a custom-built 800V Raeon UK battery pack, will power the front wheels and will be managed by a custom hybrid powertrain controller.

FutureTech Blazin Rodz

These cutting-edge components, head-turning power figures and utilization of new manufacturing techniques demonstrate why the SEMA Show FutureTech Studio was the ideal platform for Blazin' Rodz to reveal the project to the industry.

"Our mindset is to do something absolutely nobody else is doing. We have to make our own way," said Spenser Tanner, a builder and fabricator at Blazin' Rodz. "We're trying to create something that has no competition because nobody has done it yet."

It's an approach that guides how the California shop operates its business, he added.

"You have to try to always be ahead of everybody," Tanner said. "If you're doing the same thing as 10,000 other shops, what is going to set you apart and what is going to make people buy your product, whether it's a car part, or a car itself?"

It's that forward-thinking and trailblazing attitude that is at the heart of what the FutureTech Studio is all about, according SEMA Director of Vehicle Technology and Product Development Luis Morales. Now a SEMA Show staple, this hub of new tech aims to show traditional aftermarket manufacturers and builders what's coming down the road.

FutureTech Studio

"The FutureTech Studio serves as a learning hub for the folks that are not in this exhibit, to the traditional aftermarket manufacturer," Morales said. "They get a chance to come in here and understand there's something changing here, or there's a new way to develop a product, or there's new tool, new materials.

"It brings it to life and brings in subject matter experts to talk about the technology, how it's being adopted," he added.

Ultimately, it shows that as the aftermarket moves, SEMA will move along with it.

"This shows SEMA's commitment to the evolution of the aftermarket as it adapts to new vehicle technology," Morales said. "It's to show that in the aftermarket, we're not stagnant. We are moving along with the process of technology."

Education sessions at the FutureTech Studio continue on Thursday, November 6. View the schedule of events here.

SEMA Show Education seminar speaker close up 2025

SEMA Show attendees seeking to sharpen and tune their knowledge and skills within the industry should explore the many programs offered by SEMA Education, which concludes its schedule today, Thursday, November 6.

SEMA Education comprises courses designed to develop new skills, inform industry members and foster business strategies in an engaging classroom setting, now situated on the second floor of the North Hall of the SEMA Show campus. A full schedule and breakdown of all the tracks and sessions are available at SEMAShow.com/Education.

Even better: most sessions are included with your SEMA Show registration at no extra cost, providing unmatched value for attendees seeking to expand their expertise.

Understandably, some attendees may hesitate to leave the Show floor, but SEMA classes and seminars are worth their time in gold, as emphasized by one attendee, CJ Pelletier of DIFFRNT Media in Tempe, Arizona, who attended an artificial intelligence (AI) workshop on Wednesday. "The seminar was super interesting; the speaker was amazing. Where AI is at right now, it's already doing some crazy things. We can only prepare for what's next," he said.

That sentiment was shared by Rafael De Marco of FlowLabs in Montevideo, Uruguay, who also attended the seminar and shared, "I want to expand my knowledge and get to know more and more about the technology side in the automotive world," he said. "I also attended a different seminar yesterday, the Five Ways to Make Your Business More Successful and I have another one this afternoon. [The SEMA Show education program] is the right place to make connections for us."

SEMA Education Tracks for 2025

Each SEMA education session falls under one of eight tracks. These tracks categorize sessions according to subject matter, allowing attendees to more easily find programs that fit their interests. Take a look and see which tracks catch your attention to begin planning your Show education schedule:

  • Aftermarket Updates and Future Trends
  • Emerging and Executive Leadership (including Dale Carnegie and the SEMA Women's Leadership Symposium)
  • Inside the Shop
  • Legislative and Regulatory
  • Sales and Marketing
  • Small Business Strategy
  • Talent Management
  • Vehicle Technology

Partnered Education Programs at the 2025 SEMA Show

SEMA Education also features tracks in partnership with third-party entities, adding more supporting sessions to the program. These outside organizations include the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR), Tire Industry Association (TIA) and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS)--all of which broaden the range of the Show's specialized courses.

I-CAR is hosting hands-on MIG welding courses, as well as courses on safety protocols for working on electric vehicles with high-voltage systems. Additionally, with ADAS becoming more prevalent in modern vehicles, modifying or repairing these newer cars often requires correctly working with ADAS hardware.

You can also take advantage of I-CAR's two-course bundles to save on registration fees.

Meanwhile, Show attendees in the wheel and tire industry are finding great value in any of the TIA courses. Not only is TIA offering technical programs, but the organization is also leading courses that can help tire retailers protect themselves from liability with a 10-step defense outline in the event of customer lawsuits. TIA seminars are also teaching attendees how to navigate the current employment market and retain talent in the tire segment.

SCRS's programs are densely packed with materials for anyone in the collision repair industry, especially if you're trying to put your business on a path of maximum efficiency, gain an online presence, view incoming trends and technologies and so much more.

Gymkhana Returns With Travis Pastrana and the All-New Subaru "Brataroo"
Hoonigan

The Gymkhana franchise is back, and this time, it's going airborne—literally. Making its first-ever public debut at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Hoonigan and Subaru Motorsports USA have unveiled the Subaru Brataroo 9500 Turbo, a wild reimagining of the 1978 Subaru BRAT purpose-built for Travis Pastrana's next installment of the viral film series. Set in Australia, where the term "hoon" originated, the new film will showcase Pastrana shredding landmarks and delivering the signature jumps, drifts, and close calls that define the Gymkhana legacy. Engineered by Vermont SportsCar, the Brataroo features a 670-hp, 9,500-rpm turbocharged boxer engine, all-wheel drive, and cutting-edge active aerodynamics for ultimate control both on the ground and in the air. Its carbon-fiber widebody, designed by Khyzyl Saleem, blends vintage Subaru attitude with modern performance and a retro-inspired livery nodding to Outback sunsets and Pastrana's trademark plaid. Inside, a carbon-and-woodgrain cockpit honors the BRAT's utilitarian roots with modern tech and custom details. As Pastrana puts it, "It's got the soul of a vintage Subaru with the tech to do things no Gymkhana car has ever done." The new film, Gymkhana: Aussie Shred, premieres this December on the Hoonigan YouTube channel. See the Hoonigan area outside, in the Silver Lot, Booth #84000.
