New Products Are the Stars

The SEMA Show may be well known for project vehicles and special builds, but amazing new products are the stars of the event. In fact, 60,000 buyers and 3,000 media from all over the world traveled to the Las Vegas Convention Center primarily because of the all the new products on display. Reporters were able to find products in specific categories of interest to their audiences, such as truck, SUV and off-road in the case of Truck Trend and Truckin’, or restoration and racing and performance for Modified magazine. No matter the category, reporters had access to hundreds of amazing new products.

A sample of some of the editors recommendations are featured here:

Super Chevy

The editors included a total of 50 new products in their article, including items such as an Aeromotive Stealth fuel system, a ProCharger supercharger system and a B&M console shifter for that retro look and feel. At the SEMA Show’s New Products Showcase, each company’s phone number and website were included along with the product display.

ModifiedModified magazine covered a wide array of SEMA Show vehicles but also made room to detail favorite new products—or, as the magazine’s staff referred to them, “the latest and greatest.”

Modified targeted its audience of auto enthusiasts with an eye toward products for the automotive modifier and restorer.

Truckin’The editors of Truckin’ also weighed in on their favorite new products, highlighting truck parts and tools.

  councils
SEMA council and network leaders.

The deadline for council and network Select Committee nominations has been extended to Tuesday, April 1, at 5:00 p.m. (PDT). To nominate yourself or another SEMA member company employee, simply fill out the online form with the candidate’s contact information and why you think he or she should be elected.

The Select Committee serves as the volunteer leadership body for the entire membership of a specific council or professional network. These volunteers are in tune with their market and have the drive needed to influence change. Elected volunteers are entrusted to direct SEMA resources toward building solutions to matters facing the industry, benefits and opportunities that help companies succeed and prosper.

There are currently 10 council and network groups within SEMA, and each represents a collection of members who share a common business purpose or market segment. Councils work to identify related business goals, issues and challenges for member companies that require a special focus by the association, while the professional networks are free for all employees of SEMA-member companies.

To learn more about SEMA’s councils and networks, visit www.sema.org/councils-networks. For more information about the nomination and election process, contact Gina Ledesma at ginal@sema.org.

Legislation to establish a pilot program administered by the Department of Transportation to impose a vehicle mileage user fee was introduced in Minnesota.

Legislation to establish a pilot program administered by the Department of Transportation to impose a vehicle mileage user fee was introduced in Minnesota. Under the bill, the department must report to the legislature its design options and recommendations for a permanent program that would be implemented in the near term. The bill seeks to penalize national efforts to create a more fuel-efficient vehicle fleet. As gas tax revenues decrease due to hybrid and electric vehicle ownership, states are looking for new sources of funding for pet projects.

For more information, visit the SEMA Action Network (SAN) website. For details, contact Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org.
