Corvette
The new C8.R Corvette racer will be powered by a 5.5L V-8 capable of producing 500 hp and 480 lb.-ft. of torque.
Stingray
The new C8 is powered by a next-generation 6.2L small-block LT2 V-8—visible through a rear-hatch window—that’s capable of producing 495 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, and a claimed 0–60mph time of 2.9 sec. and top speed of 194 mph.
Chevy E-10Combining a ’62 C-10 pickup with a Bolt-powered Connect & Cruise concept crate propulsion package, the E-10 is said to produce 450 hp and a 0–60mph time in the 13-second range.

Chevrolet introduced the new mid-engine Corvette race car, known as the C8.R, Monday November 4, at the 2019 SEMA Show Reveal. Based off the production ’20 Corvette Stingray, the C8.R will be the first mid-engine Corvette to compete in IMSA’s GTLM class and the first clean-sheet race car design since the C5.R debuted in 1999. It will make its racing debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, January 25, 2020.

The TC8.R shares the highest percentage of parts between the production and race car than any previous generation. In compliance with IMSA engine displacement rules, the C8.R will feature a 5.5L naturally aspirated V8 engine, producing 500 hp and 480 ft.-lb. of torque. A new compact Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox was developed in order to provide room at the rear of the C8.R to package a race-car specific diffuser. The C8.R utilizes a production ’20 Stingray chassis structure that’s been modified to meet race series requirements and will ride on 18-in. Michelin Pilot Sport GT competition tires.

The No. 4 race car features a new silver livery, inspired by the color of iconic Corvette concepts, such as the ’73 Chevrolet Aerovette and ’59 Corvette Stingray Racer that pushed the envelope both in design and on-track performance. This car also features yellow accents. It will be joined by the No. 3 race car in a yellow color scheme with silver accents that continue the lineage of the successful GTLM racing Corvettes.

Also at the SEMA New Vehicle Reveal, Chevrolet introduced the ’20 mid-engine Corvette Stingray, which is virtually all new, with only one part carried over from the previous model.

It’s backed by an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the powertrain rides within a body structure that’s said to be 10% more rigid that the previous generation. The G8 rides on 19-in. front and 20-in. rear wheels, and the Z51 Performance Package includes Brembo brakes and an electronic limited-slip (ELSD).

The new C8 sports a host of leading-edge technology and convenience features. A Drive Mode Selector allows the operator to electronically calibrate up to 12 performance variables to tailor the vehicle’s ride and handling characteristics to suit the demands of the road. My Mode and Z-Mode features allow the operator to save settings between drives. The “digital driver” Performance Data Recorder (PDR) provide a 1080p recording of each drive. An available Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 damping system “reads” the road every millisecond and adapts vehicle damping in as little as 10–15 milliseconds. The two-piece convertible hardtop can activate at speeds up to 30 mph using six electric motors. A Bose premium 10-speaker audio system is standard, as are eight-way power GT1 seats.

In addition, Chevrolet introduced the all-electric E-10 concept pickup. Combining a ’62 C-10 pickup with a Bolt-powered Connect & Cruise concept crate propulsion package, the E-10 is said to produce 450 hp and a 0–60mph time in the 13-second range. The E-10’s overall cruising range is said to be comparable to the Bolt EV’s.

The E-10’s Connect & Cruise concept propulsion system is composed of a double stack of Chevrolet Performance electric crate motors (eCrate), two 400V batteries and a production 4L75-E automatic transmission. The double-stack motor replaces the truck’s original gas engine in the engine bay, and power to the motors comes from the pair of independent Chevrolet Bolt EV power electronics and two production Bolt EV battery packs. Mounted in the truck’s bed, each provides 60 kWh of usable energy under a hard tonneau cover. According to GM, the E-10 went from a concept to a running vehicle in only 18 weeks. The E-10 has a sound emulator with three speakers to simulate an induction sound in the front, and two banks of a V8 engine in the back. The driver can select one of five modes on the emulator, including LS7 Z28 track tuning, LS7 Z28 touring turning, or a V8 engine. The vehicle also features a silent mode.

A ’68 Ford Bronco wagon was left for Jay Leno as a joke, arranged by fellow late-night TV host Craig Ferguson to be parked in Leno’s spot on the eve of his last taping. Ferguson was unaware of the iconic status of the Bronco—and had no idea how highly sought-after these models are. But long-time car collector Leno knew. He happily accepted the gift, which ended up sitting in his garage unrestored until recently.

The effort to restore the vehicle finally materialized early this year with Ford Performance and the SEMA Garage leading a collaborative team to give it new life.

The upfitted and newly restored ’68 Bronco is now on display at the 2019 SEMA Show.

Ford Performance worked with some of the industry’s best restoration professionals to bring the Bronco back to its former glory. The Bronco has been outfitted with the heart of the all-new Mustang Shelby GT500—the most-powerful street-legal Ford ever.

Ford Performance engaged the expertise of noted Bronco licensee Kincer Chassis to help restore the vehicle. Kincer built the chassis and installed the powertrain, including the aforementioned Ford Performance 5.2L supercharged V8 engine.

Dennis Carpenter of Ford Restoration Parts provided body panels, while the SEMA Garage contributed its technical expertise in computer-aided design, 3D printing and calibration work. LGE-CTS Motorsports revived the body with new sheet metal, custom body mods, paint and final assembly.

“Bronco was an iconic vehicle that was many things to many people,” said Leno, now host of “Jay Leno’s Garage” on CNBC. “The Bronco was bought to use on the farm or to take your date to the prom and was comfortable in any of these environments. The idea of having a classic Bronco upgraded with modern handling, performance and braking really makes it the best of both worlds.”

The ’68 Bronco wagon will be seen on an upcoming episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage” on CNBC and will be showcased in detail on “Jay Leno’s Garage” on YouTube.

The following is a sampling of some of the vehicle builds that were revealed on the 2019 SEMA Show floor, Tuesday, November 5, in Las Vegas:

Ringbrothers
“Valkyrja,” a custom ’69 890hp Camaro, was unveiled Tuesday November 5, in the Ringbrothers booth at the 2019 SEMA Show.

Ringbrothers Custom ’69 Chevrolet Camaro “Valkyrja”

Ringbrothers unveiled its latest build, a ’69 Chevrolet Camaro known as “Valkyrja,” Tuesday, November 5, at the 2019 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The 890hp musclecar was developed using the latest technology, including 3D scanning and CAD design, and was assembled with modern materials, such carbon fiber, while custom parts were created using a combination of 3D printing and CNC machining.

A 416ci Wegner Motorsports LS3 topped with a 2.9L Whipple supercharger rests under the hood. The transmission is a Bowler six-speed Tremec that has been reworked to support extreme horsepower. The chassis and suspension are by Detroit Speed Engineering, and a John’s Industries 9-in. rear end helps put power to the ground. A Flowmaster stainless-steel Super 44 Series exhaust adds a growl to the engine note. The paint is a custom BASF mix called TOTOPKG Green and is sprayed over a body prepped using 3M products. Motul supplied engine and gear oils, and Prestone supplied the coolant.

The name “Valkyrja” is derived from the Old Norse spelling of “Valkyrie,” which refers to mythological female figures who select which soldiers live and die in battle. The soldiers chosen by the Valkyrie were said to have been taken to Valhalla in the afterlife. The name was chosen by the car’s Belgian owner who will take delivery after the SEMA Show.

Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has created a powerful production series Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE, “The Hennessey Resurrection,” which was unveiled Tuesday, November 5, in the Shell Pioneering Performance Experience (booth #60003).

Following in the footsteps of “The Exorcist,” the company’s 1000 bhp ZL1 Camaro, Hennessey has now taken the ZL1 1LE to the next level. The heart of the Resurrection begins by removing the ZL1’s 650 bhp supercharged LT4 engine and replacing it with the 755 bhp LT5 engine from the Corvette ZR1. The Hennessey team then further tunes the LT5, running on Shell E85 biofuel, and adds more power to 1200 bhp at 6,800 rpm by increasing airflow through the engine, which includes a  high-flow air induction system; CNC billet throttle body upgrade; CNC ported factory 2.65L supercharger with a larger intercooler system; custom carbon-fiber hood with more clearance; CNC ported factory cylinder heads, camshaft and valvetrain upgrades; 1 7/8-in. long-tube stainless-steel headers with high-flow catalytic converters; fuel system upgrade, engine management recalibration; and chassis dyno tuning.

Six-speed-equipped vehicles will receive a Centerforce clutch and flywheel upgrade. Ten-speed automatic transmission-equipped vehicles will receive upgraded clutch packs and a torque converter.

Production will be limited to just 24 examples. The Resurrection can be ordered directly from Chevrolet dealers or from Hennessey at the cost of $200,000 which includes the new Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE.

Rolling Big Power’s Handicap-Accessible GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali

Rolling Big Power has partnered with Keaton “The Muscle” Hoskins from television’s “Diesel Brothers” to debut a one-of-a-kind ’18 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali at the 2019 SEMA Show. The truck was for built Jonathan Barber, who was involved in a coal-mining accident in 2017 that left him paralyzed from the chest down. After connecting on social media, Hoskins and Barber became friends, and Hoskins transformed the Sierra 3500HD into a handicap accessible one-off show truck.

The GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali’s platform provided plenty of room and power for Barber to travel with his family. The goal was to build a daily driver that was special enough to show off at truck shows on the weekends.

The truck was transformed into a handicap-accessible show rig, complete with an All Terrain Conversions hydraulic chair lift and gullwing door, and hand controls with a twist handle for throttle and brake control. The 14-in. lift features custom King shocks to fit wheelchair accessories and sits on 24-in. Rolling Big Power 12R Apex wheels with True Spike lug nuts and 40-in. Rolling Big Power Repulsor tires. Barber’s Sierra is equipped with Rolling Big Power Stealth Power Running Boards to allow for easier entry for his family, while a custom RBP grille and fuel door provide signature RBP styling.

The Sierra is on display in the Pilot Automotive booth #20113 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Quaker State and Lowrider restored the custom lowrider in an effort to support a children’s charity in 2020. Chosen and completely customized by Lowrider, the ’68 Chevy Impala plans to drive around the United State throughout 2020, making appearances at various automotive shows, motorsports races, customer engagements and Lowrider MeatUps.

After the 2019 SEMA Show, the Impala will go on a cross-country trip throughout 2020, where it will be displayed at automotive events and races. Fans and spectators will be able to get up-close and personal with the vehicle. Some of the custom work includes an LS3 engine paired to a 4L65E transmission that’s stopped by CPP Disc Brakes. The vehicle rides on a Currie rear end, Universal air suspension, VIAIR compressors and Energy Suspension bushings. The Impala was coated with multi-toned green paint and features a custom interior, including a 44-in. moon roof.

Timeless Kustoms “Devious” ’65 Mustang

Timeless Kustoms has taken the wraps off its latest Ford creation, the “Devious” ’65 Mustang Fastback. The vehicle was unveiled Tuesday, November 5, in Keystone Automotive’s booth at the 2019 SEMA Show.

Under the hood, a Ford 5.0L Coyote engine is equipped with a COMP camshaft and Manley forged pistons, and topped by an Edelbrock E-Force supercharger. Fuel delivery is by Aeromotive, Magnaflow handles exhaust duties, and an Aluminator keeps engine temps under control. Power is transferred through a Centerforce-clutched Tremec T56 six-speed to turn Toyo tires wrapped around Forgeline rims, which in turn are damped by a Detroit Speed suspension and JRi shocks while carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes sporting six-piston calipers bring the ride to a stop.

Inside the cockpit, AutoMeter gauges monitor underhood functions, a Sparco steering wheel and racing pedals provide a sporty look, VintageAir A/C keeps the ‘Stang’s occupants comfortable, and Image Dynamics subwoofers deliver rump-thumping volume. Outside, “Devious” is adorned with a coat of PPG blue acrylic with black accents.

The Hyundai Veloster “Grap Ler” concept was unveiled Tuesday, November 5, in the Hyundai booth at the 2019 SEMA Show. The vehicle features a removable solar panel from Goal Zero, which powers an all-electric portable power station mounted inside the cabin for remote journeys. A custom vinyl exterior body wrap features a ghosted Hyundai-themed livery. Finally, a Seibon carbon-fiber hood effectively vents excess engine bay heat when things heat up out on the road.

Inside, the functional ruggedness theme continues. An integrated roll bar provides occupant protection and facilitates mounting for a fullsize spare wheel and tire. Further outfitting the interior are traction mats, an oversized utility shovel, a Goal Zero portable power station, a roadside assistance kit, a first-aid kit, a Napier outdoor dome tent, Scosche Mounts, Goal Zero crush lights and premium Recaro seats finished in a vintage houndstooth check pattern. Exterior lighting is modulated through a custom- designed switch panel. Hyundai genuine accessories include sport pedals, a sport shifter, all-weather mats, ambient footwell lighting and cargo blocks. A roof-mounted Thule utility basket includes a high-output lighting system from Baja Designs, allowing for versatility on the go.
