TOP TWO DRIVERS IN EACH CLASS DISCUSS FINAL TWO STOPS ON NHRA FULL THROTTLE DRAG RACING SCHEDULE: The culmination of another impressive season is upon us as the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series heads into its final two races of the season, beginning this weekend with the NHRA Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After 21 races in nine months, the battle for the world championship has come down to less than 100 points separating the first- and second-place drivers in each of the four categories. With a grand total of 150 points possible for a driver to earn at each race, the top drivers in the point standings know that anything is possible. LARRY DIXON: “I’m trying to keep my routine, keep working out and go into these last two races with the same approach the Al-Anabi team has used all season. The only thing on my mind is the first qualifying session at Las Vegas…we can’t worry about anything else.”

CORY McCLENATHAN: “We’re going to try to scrape up as many of those points as we can. And, if the racing gods are with us and we get a little bit of luck on Sunday and go to the final and Larry doesn’t, that will make the difference going into Pomona.”

FUNNY CAR:

MATT HAGAN: “We can’t make any mistakes. We have to go out there, do some good, solid racing, go some rounds. I don’t feel like we have to set the world on fire, but we need to go some rounds and keep kind of matching John round for round, and it will hopefully fall the way we want it to. JOHN FORCE: “I’ve got to make a stop in Vegas. I’m going to have to win two races if I’m going to get this guy. I’ll get that shot that he got to get that national record and gobble up some of them points. And then every round you’ve got to run hard because he picked up a bunch of points on me there. That’s what I’m up against.”

Attention SEMA Showgoers: the SPEED Channel and People Farm Casting are looking for car-rebuild teams for "Wheel Wars" and will hold open casting for 10 episodes next week at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Show Description

Wheel Wars is a one-hour reality competition series in car building. Each episode pits two top teams against each other to see who can transform an old junker into a show car in just 72 hours. In each episode, a visiting team will challenge the "Wheel Wars" All-Stars made up of the country’s top custom car makers. The two teams will be given the same tools, the same machines and, most importantly, the same car. That’s right, each team will start with the same junker and must not only race each other, but also the clock, in turning the junker into a new car.

After 72 hours, the cars will be judged using three categories: build quality, originality and performance. If the All-Star team wins, they get to keep their reputations. If the visiting team wins, they take their car home with them AND they get the All-Star’s car. Reputations, egos and old-fashioned bragging rights are at stake, and no one wants to leave the garage a loser.

The program's pace is urgent. Every split-second decision will be shown, every mistake will be analyzed. Engines will break, bolts will fly, tempers will flare and fists may even be thrown.

A 2010 SEMA Show sponsor, UPS, is conducting two educational sessions at this year’s Show and offering SEMA members who attend these sessions the chance to win a tablet computer.

“We know that there’s so much to see and do at the SEMA Show, and we want to provide an exciting reason for attendees to participate in these valuable UPS-sponsored sessions,” said Kristin DeBates, UPS marketing manager serving customers in the automotive industry. “UPS will announce the winner of the tablet giveaway on-site at our booth, #11937 in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, on Tuesday, November 2, at 4:00 p.m.”

Drop your business card in the specially designated entry box at each of the UPS-sponsored seminars at the 2010 SEMA Show to be entered for a chance to win the tablet computer. Participants may submit one entry at each of the two UPS sessions held on Monday, November 1.*

UPS is bringing founders of TheEntrepreneurSchool.com, Jim Beach and Chris Hanks, to facilitate an informative seminar entitled, “Growth Through Global Trade” on-site at the SEMA Show. This session will take place on Monday, November 1, from 1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. in room N261 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. In this session, Beach and Hanks will explain the trends in growing markets and how to build your international business. They also plan to discuss supply chain tools and capabilities that help companies compete in today’s ever-changing global marketplace.

That same day, UPS will sponsor a second educational session entitled, “Shipping Technology as a Competitive Advantage.” This session will take place from 3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m., and it will also be held in room N261 of the Las Vegas Convention Center. UPS has enlisted Jeff Enyart, director of UPS customer technology, to lead this informative session.

Enyart plans to discuss how the right technology can help your company improve operational efficiency and create a competitive advantage. For instance, Enyart will discuss how technology can help you process orders and shipments more effectively, cut fulfillment time and keep customers informed. The session will demonstrate how technology can help automotive companies save time and money while creating a more efficient supply chain.
