The SEMA Show features thousands of project vehicles each year that represent the ingenuity and creativity of the specialty-equipment market. SEMA Show exhibitors can generate more product exposure by offering products to builders through the SEMA Show Products for Project-Vehicle Builders list. The list is a simple way to connect exhibitors who want to get more eyes on their products at the Show with builders designing the vehicles that attract attention from thousands of buyers and members of the media.

Each week SEMA eNews will feature the latest additions to the list, and hundreds of builders will access the list to find the pieces they need to complete their builds. Product-placement opportunities such as this are so beneficial that exhibitors often offer products for free or at a greatly reduced rate. Note: The list is reserved for exhibitors of the 2011 SEMA Show.

To place your product on the list, send your company name, a brief product description, contact information and a website where the products can be viewed to eNews@sema.org and put “Product List” in the e-mail subject line. To complete the process online, use this electronic form from the Exhibitor Manual.

Remember, builders will contact you directly, so make sure your contact information is accurate. New submissions will be included each week, when available.

For questions or additional information, contact Jason Catullo at jasonc@sema.org or 909-978-6713.

Veteran etiquette gurus are swamped these days with questions about how to politely refuse Facebook friends and what to do about a teenager who texts at the dinner table. Hurt feelings and bad manners have gone virtual. Social Media and mobile technology have given us a whole new way to share with a much larger audience, but that comes with the risk of offending a much larger audience!

The problem of developing etiquette rules for online interactions is not restricted to personal profiles. As businesses make use of social media sharing opportunities, there are a few common social media gaffes to watch out for.

1. Thou Shalt not Steal

Never in a million years would any of us consider walking out of a party with the hostess’ silverware in our pocket, yet people regularly grab images and text from online outlets without making any reference to the original source. This is rude in any medium. Whether you’re sharing a Facebook photo or an online article, mention that it is borrowed and, if possible, include a link back to the site where it was originally published.

Note: When borrowing a photo from a Facebook fan, simply mention that the image is from a fan, perhaps with the person’s first or last name. Due to varying Facebook privacy settings, it may not be polite or desirable to send your whole fan base to look at a private citizen’s profile.

2. That’s Enough About You, Have You Heard About Me?

“Tagging” is common practice on sites, such as Facebook and Twitter where a simple mention of a name can link your post to a partner or customer’s page or profile and allow their friends and fans to see it. This can be a great way to cross market, or it can be the equivalent of butting in to a conversation about Renaissance art to talk about the time you did a finger painting in kindergarten. Use tagging sparingly and make sure that what you are tagging is relevant and flattering to the tagged party.

3. Hold the Spam

It can be very tempting to use the comment section on a blog or Facebook post as a spot to promote one’s own business. Unless the post is asking “How many of you own your own exhaust shop?” don’t post about your company. It’s blatant spam and it will likely get you banned from the page. Start your own fan page or blog and build a community around your brand.

The same goes for forum posting. It’s just rude to invade a thread with unrelated self-promotion. If you’re a sponsor with a new product, start a new thread or look for a conversation that’s more relevant in which to post your photos.

4. Are We There Yet? How About Now? Now?

Invites are polite, but with so many social media sites, and new ones coming up every day, some folks might start to feel bombarded with Google +, Storify and LinkedIn invites. If you feel like you’ve arrived at the party early, invite a few co-workers who share your enthusiasm for online socializing and simply wait for the rest of the world to catch up. Basically, don’t be pushy; it’s not any more appreciated in the online sphere than it is on the phone or in person.

5. R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Most social media articles end up with the same message. The online world is not an alternate reality; it’s an extension of the physical world in which we live, especially for businesses. Respect people’s creative rights, their privacy and their opinions and you’ll build a reputation for your company as refined and respected as the products you provide.

Roadwire Jeep Top
Roadwire's myTop transforms the Wrangler into an open-air adventure with a simple push of a button.

Roadwire (Booth #12417)
The first-ever, power-operated convertible top for the iconic Jeep Wrangler will make its highly anticipated debut in the Roadwire exhibit, booth #12417, at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. According to a recent company announcement, the all-new myTop transforms the Wrangler into an open-air adventure with a simple push of a button.

Hand-crafted in the United States, myTop incorporates an array of top-quality features, including Haartz Stayfast fabric, a sturdy but lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum frame, as well as motors constructed to the same specifications as F-14 fighter jet canopies. In addition to windows that are twice the thickness required by DOT, Roadwire utilizes only the finest hardware available: grade 8 bolts, case-hardened nuts and washers, self-lubricating bronze bushings, and powdercoated gears.

Designed to fit all 2-door Wrangler JK models from ’07–’12, myTop will be launched initially in Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, with nationwide rollout slated for year’s end.  Roadwire authorized installers will be trained and certified on installation procedures. Once trained, installation should take approximately two hours.

To highlight the myTop launch, Edmondson said two models will be featured in the Roadwire booth and another in DUB magazine’s display in front of the South Hall.

Congress last week passed three long-stalled Free Trade Agreements (FTA) with South Korea, Colombia and Panama. South Korea is the United States' seventh-largest trading partner with $88 billion in two-way trade, making the newly signed Korea-U.S. FTA—known as KORUS—the largest enacted by the U.S. since the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Bilateral car trading has been a major point of contention in U.S.–South Korea trade relations and, consequently, a major sticking point in negotiations on the KORUS FTA. In 2010, U.S. automakers exported fewer than 14,000 cars to South Korea, while South Korea exported 515,000 cars to the United States, according to trade experts. South Korea has since pledged to open its market to U.S. vehicles.

The KORUS FTA includes a “low-volume seller exemption,” which would allow each U.S. automaker to sell up to 25,000 vehicles per year in South Korea built to U.S. safety standards without any additional modifications. The European Union (E.U.) has recently signed a similar FTA with Korea, which will become effective in July 2012.

Other U.S. FTAs approved at the same time include U.S.–Colombia and U.S.–Panama.
Colombia is the third-largest economy in Latin and South America and the U.S.-Colombia FTA will provide significant new access to Colombia's $166 billion services market. Panama is one of the fastest-growing economies in Latin America whose GDP is expected to jump with the completion of the expanded Panama Canal in 2014.
