The first-ever SEMA Battle of the Builders™ competition will take place at SEMA Ignited, Friday, November 7, 2014.

More than 125 vehicle builders and car customizers have been entered into the first-ever SEMA Battle of the Builders™ competition taking place at SEMA Ignited, Friday, November 7, 2014. The builders represent an elite group of individuals who have demonstrated extreme talent, creativity and craftsmanship in modifying cars, trucks and SUVs.

Editors of leading automotive magazines—Sam Du from Super Street, David Freiburger from Hot Rod, and Fred Williams from Petersen’s 4Wheel & Off Road—will select the Top-10 builders, who will be announced at the 2014 SEMA Show, Tuesday, November 4. These 10 finalists will then judge one another and vote to determine who will be named the ultimate winner in the 2014 SEMA Battle of the Builders™.

The competition is the foundation for a nationwide television special to be aired on the Velocity Network that will be filmed Friday, November 7, from 4:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. at the inaugural SEMA Ignited—an event taking place after the trade-only SEMA Show closes. Hundreds of vehicles will exit the Las Vegas Convention Center after the 2014 SEMA Show ends and make their way to The LINQ near the Las Vegas Strip, where SEMA Ignited will take place. They will join exhibitors, products and celebrities from the SEMA Show at The LINQ, along with food trucks, music and entertainment.

While the SEMA Show is a trade show that is not open to the general public, SEMA Ignited is open to consumers and allows attendees a chance to preview the industry’s latest automotive accessories on many of the 2014 SEMA Show vehicles that were on display during the week.

Who isn’t frustrated with Washington, D.C., gridlock? While one person can’t change the dysfunction, collectively we can help influence the process. Our industry needs your help.

SEMA’s Political Action Committee (SEMA PAC) fights for SEMA members and their businesses in the nation’s capital by supporting the car guys and gals in Congress who have our industry’s back. While you’re at the 2014 SEMA Show, be sure to stop by the SEMA PAC booth (North Hall Upstairs Lobby) to make your voice heard. It takes seconds to become SEMA PAC Approved and there is never an obligation to contribute. When you sign up you’ll even receive a free SEMA PAC pin you can wear with pride all week.

To help manufacturers, retailers, installers and even warehouse distributors learn about the benefits, perceived hurdles and costs of TV marketing, the SEMA Show will present a super-session seminar entitled “Understand and Maximize Investments in Automotive TV Programming.”

The event will be presented Monday, November 3, (the day before the official opening of the SEMA Show) from 3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. in room N258 adjacent to the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The seminar will be presented by a panel moderated by Jim Cozzie, former SEMA chairman of the Board, SEMA Person of the Year and recent inductee into the SEMA Hall of Fame. Cozzie is a managing partner in Brenton Productions, which creates television shows for a variety of networks, including Velocity and MAVTV, with programming such as “Two Guys Garage,” “All Girls Garage” and “Car Fix.” Cozzie has more than 30 years of management experience in the automotive specialty-equipment and television-production industries and has held senior-level positions with aftermarket companies, such as Hurst Performance Inc., Super Press Inc. and B&M Racing & Performance Products.
