DEJORIA WINS FIRST CAREER FUNNY CAR VICTORY: Alexis DeJoria raced to her first career Funny Car victory Sunday at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. “When we won the finals, I couldn’t believe it," said DeJoria, daughter of famed entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria and wife of noted television personality Jesse James. "Actually, I can because I know we can do it, but it’s such a shock at the same time. It’s surreal. It’s really amazing. I don’t think I’m going to be able to sleep."

GAINES TAKES PRO STOCK POINTS LEAD: V Gaines continues his impressive start to the 2014 season as he has raced to two consecutive final-round appearances. While he hasn't secured a victory, he finds himself atop the Pro Stock points by 11 over Jason Line. Gaines, who has 400 Pro Stock starts, hasn't finished higher than seventh in points, and this marks the first time he has led the points in his career. NHRA RETURNS TO GAINESVILLE FOR AMALIE MOTOR OIL NHRA NATIONALS: NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series teams are preparing to head to the Sunshine State for the traditional East Coast opener—the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Auto-Plus Raceway at Gainesville. All of the biggest stars in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series will be on hand. A win at this event can mean great momentum as drivers pursue NHRA Mello Yello world championship glory during the season that crisscrosses the United States. Antron Brown (Top Fuel), Johnny Gray (Funny Car), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) were last year’s winners of the event that will again be televised on ESPN2. 3.785: Number in seconds of the career best pass for Top Fuel racer Leah Pritchett who recorded the time during qualifying in Phoenix. Pritchett qualified eighth, and while she was ousted by Khalid alBalooshi, she is pleased with the early season numbers.

“Our Gumout/Dote Racing crew has been doing a superb job with the new equipment this year,” Pritchett said. “Despite limited testing this year, the team has clicked off consistently strong runs at Pomona and Phoenix. I’m so excited to run in the 3.70 range for the first time. I really think we are making great gains with the car.”

TUCKER WINS FIRST ROUND OF COMPETITION: Rookie Shane Tucker of Australia, recorded his first career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series round win at the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Phoenix when he defeated the No. 1 qualifier of Chris McGaha. Tucker staged early and left the line on McGaha, .040 to .134, and held on for the round-win, 6.621 to 6.571.

"I had to play the game a little," said Tucker. "They do that a little in Australia, but it's more brutal here. I figured I had to try something to have a chance."

Tucker had a wild ride at the end of the track following the run but got the car safely stopped. "I know we have a ton of room [in the shut-down area] here, but the car was bucking, and I maybe got on the brakes a little too hard. It's always nerve racking when you don't feel the chutes come out. This is a borrowed car. I didn't want to bring it back to Victor [Cagnazzi] wrecked."

VP Racing Fuels Signs as Official Fuel for TORC: The Off-Road Championship 2014 Season
TORC: The Off-Road Championship has announced that VP Racing Fuels will be its Official Fuel for the 2014 season. All TORC competitors will be powered by the company's high-performance racing fuels beginning with the April 5–6 "Duel in the Desert" race in Primm, Nevada. As part of its sponsorship, VP will establish a contingency program to reward racers based on performance parameters. In addition, VP will provide trackside fuel service at each event, which will include an online pre-order procedure to provide for delivery of specific fuels to teams at the track. As the Official Fuel of TORC, VP will gain extensive brand visibility through media exposure including television, radio, print, digital and social media as well as display space, track signage and fan activation at TORC events.

	Ray Piloto and Rico Apolinar will race Pierce Motorsport’s Hyundai Veloster for the full USTCC schedule.

Champion Rally Driver Ray Piloto Makes His Debut in the USTCC
Triple Seven Racing owner/driver Ray Piloto and driver Rico Apolinar will be the newest driving duo to enter the Nitto Tires United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC). Jim Pierce of Pierce Motorsports has confirmed their professional partnership for the USTCC 2014 season. Piloto and Apolinar will race Pierce Motorsport’s Hyundai Veloster for the full USTCC schedule. Triple Seven Racing is the only Latin-American race team. Their mission is to educate and inspire young Latin Americans through racing and financial education in order to empower youth to own their economic success. Piloto has won many rally championships but has yet to prove himself as a road-racing driver. Apolinar is a driving instructor with years of teaching, but only amateur race experience.

Reno Tahoe USA Partners With Team Lucas for 2014
Reno Tahoe USA has re-partnered with Team Lucas for 2014 to co-promote two major double-header tour stops of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at the Wild West Motorsports Park in Sparks, Nevada. First up will be Rounds 5 and 6 held Friday–Saturday, May 30–31, followed by Rounds 11 and 12—also Friday and Saturday nights. Both double header weekends will be under the lights. Reno Tahoe USA and Team Lucas will combine to run a summer season-long advertising campaign encompassing radio, TV, billboards and magazines running throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada.

Royal Purple Thinking Pink for the Mint 400 
Royal Purple will support “Pink” UTV racer Lacrecia Beurrier as she tackles The Mint 400 this year. The DragonFire-sponsored driver is the defending Sportsman Class champ. After winning the title twice, Beurrier is looking to outperform her past wins by campaigning in the Pro 1000 class this year. She enters this year's race with a new Can-Am Maverick that should be fired up for the very first time this weekend.

KGP Photography's man in Germany has caught a new prototype for the next Porsche 911 GT3 RS on public roads in Europe. The new GT3 RS reportedly represents a significant step over the standard 911 GT3, with more power, lighter weight and new aerodynamic aids to place it securely atop the 911 model range.

This prototype showcases new aerodynamic treatments—many of which are visible on this latest prototype—that are said to give this GT3 RS "nearly race-car levels of downforce," according to sources in Germany.

The GT3 RS gets a variant of the 911 Turbo body, with a large side scoop and wide rear flanks to allow a wider rear track and massive rear rubber. Autocar reports that this prototype is actually wearing the wheels and tires from the 918 Spyder.

The prototype has some curious camouflage running along the central portion of the hood and the roof, but it's unknown what lies beneath. The car also showcases some new venting on its heavily revised engine cover.

In addition to lighter weight, this 911 GT3 RS is rumored to get a minimum of 500 hp from what is expected to be a highly tuned version of Porsche's naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine.
