There are currently 10 council and network groups within SEMA, and each represents a collection of members who share a common business purpose or market segment. Councils work to identify related business goals, issues and challenges for member companies that require a special focus by the association, while the professional networks are free for all employees of SEMA-member companies.

With about two weeks to go before the 2014 SEMA Show exhibitor space selection deadline, more than 1,200 manufacturers have confirmed their participation in the upcoming event taking place Tuesday–Friday, November 4–7, 2014, in Las Vegas. The exhibitor list and booth locations will be posted at www.SEMAshow.com during the Booth Space Selection Process from May 1–23, 2014.
 
Registration to attend the trade-only event will open in mid-April at www.SEMAshow.com/register.

Legislation to establish a pilot program administered by the Department of Transportation to impose a vehicle mileage user fee was introduced in Minnesota.

Legislation to establish a pilot program administered by the Department of Transportation to impose a vehicle mileage user fee was introduced in Minnesota. Under the bill, the department must report to the legislature its design options and recommendations for a permanent program that would be implemented in the near term. The bill seeks to penalize national efforts to create a more fuel-efficient vehicle fleet. As gas tax revenues decrease due to hybrid and electric vehicle ownership, states are looking for new sources of funding for pet projects.

	The Alabama Senate has approved legislation to authorize the owner of a vintage vehicle to keep the permanent vintage tag, but pay regular license taxes and registration fees.

Legislation to authorize the owner of a vintage vehicle to keep the permanent vintage tag, but pay regular license taxes and registration fees for the privilege of operating the vehicle for general transportation purposes has been introduced in the Alabama Senate. The vehicle owner would also have to maintain and show proof of mandatory liability insurance coverage.
