SEMA's Middle East Business Development Conference offers United States manufacturers the opportunity to meet with pre-vetted buyers from six Middle Eastern countries.

Eight subsidized slots are still available for SEMA's Middle East Business Development Conference, March 24–28, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Consumers there are passionate about their cars and trucks and have the deep pockets to upgrade their rides. This region's market is as broad as in the United States, where off-roading, street racing, performance, hot rodding, styling and in-car entertainment products are all in demand, and American products considered a premium.

SEMA's Middle East Business Development Conference offers United States manufacturers the opportunity to meet with pre-vetted buyers from six Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. In 2014, buyers also came from Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and India.

The early-bird registration discount for the Middle East Business Development Conference ends January 31, 2015.

Participant fees include a booth at a local show, hotel rooms, meals, networking events and the chance to measure vehicles not sold in the United States. Qualified participants are eligible for a U.S. Department of Commerce Grant to defray the cost of participating.

Program highlights include:

  • Exhibiting at the Custom Show Emirates where you'll meet with pre-vetted buyers.
  • Customizing shop tours
  • Participating in networking events
  • Access to all-day Measuring Session for vehicles popularly customized in the region but not sold in the United States.

Representatives from the following companies will attend the 2015 Middle East Business Development Conference:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reached an accord with states and industry associations representing the automakers and major suppliers to reduce the amount of copper used in motor vehicle brake pads. Copper amounts will be reduced to less than 5% by 2021 and 0.5% by 2025 under the so-called “Copper-Free Brake Initiative.” The voluntary agreement also seeks to reduce the amount of mercury, lead, cadmium, asbestiform fibers and chromium-6 salts in motor vehicle brake pads.

As brakes are used, these materials may fall on the roadways and eventually run-off into streams, rivers and lakes and pose harm to animals and plants.  California and Washington have already passed requirements to reduce these materials in brake pads.
