Johnny Greaves, CJ Greaves and Travis Dinsmore Win in Crandon

It was a Greaves family sweep on the second day of the Big House Brawl as father and son topped the PRO 4WD podium during last Sunday’s action at TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL in Crandon. In Round 6 of championship racing on the classic, 1.75-mile long dirt track, Johnny Greaves won the PRO 4WD class, CJ Greaves took the PRO 2WD win and the weekend sweep in the class, while Travis Dinsmore claimed the top spot in Atturo Tire PRO Light.

K&N Filters to Sponsor Chicago’s Route 66 NHRA Nationals

K&N Engineering has signed an agreement with NHRA to become the title sponsor of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event at Route 66 Raceway near Chicago. The K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals will be held July 7–10 at the state-of-the-art facility located in Joliet, Illinois, just south of downtown Chicago. The race, which will be televised nationally by FOX Sports 1, is the 13th of 24 events in the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. The race also features the JEGS Allstars bonus event for the top racers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. K&N is the longtime sponsor of the K&N Horsepower Challenge—a bonus event for NHRA Pro Stock teams held each April during the national event in Las Vegas. The company also provides primary and associate sponsorships for several NHRA pro and sportsman race teams.

A Winning Debut From GuestDriver.com MX-5 GT #55

The 2016 ALM Enduro Series opened with a 3.5-hour event, June 11, 2016. The field was made up of GT1, GT2, GT3 spec Miatas and was filled with a number of very competitive racecars. The GuestDriver.com #55 running in GT1 qualified third on the grid, posting a 1.34.8-second  qualifying time over the 2.2-mile circuit with 14 corners. The new MX-5 GT, driven by Doug Grunnet and Tony Kester, not only won their class but also the overall event. Next up for GuestDriver.com #55 is August 13, 2016, at the ALM Enduro Series Hour Race Into the Night.

“Voice of the NHRA” Dave McClelland Inducted Into Motorsports Hall of Fame of America Class of 2016

Dave McClelland, widely known as “The Voice of the NHRA” and one of the most legendary motorsports announcers to ever hold a microphone, is one of seven icons from the world of motorsports to be inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America’s class of 2016. He was inducted Wednesday evening during the organization’s annual ceremony at the Hall’s new home at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. McClelland worked as a key part of the NHRA announcing team for 44 years and his thundering voice was familiar to fans attending NHRA events, as well as those watching from home on The Nashville Network and then later on ESPN. McClelland also hosted various motorsports shows on ESPN, Speed Channel and The Outdoor Channel. In addition to his track announcing duties and TV broadcasting roles, McClelland worked as NHRA public relations and publicity director for seven years. Before he joined NHRA, he served as the track manager for Southland Dragway in Houma, Louisiana, and led the Dallas International Motor Speedway as its vice president and general manager. McClelland was inducted alongside AMA dirt-track motorcycle racer Everett Brashear, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress, land-speed record chaser Gary Gabelich, Indy Car and NASCAR team owner Chip Ganassi, versatile racer and broadcaster Sam Posey and 1955 Indy 500 winner Bob Sweikert. Fellow NHRA announcing alum Bob Frey presented McClelland for induction.

Bill Glidden Earns Pro Mod Win at NHRA Nationals in Norwalk

Mickey Thompson-sponsored Pro Mod racer Bill Glidden earned the Pro Mod win during the recent Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Motorsports Park in Norwalk, presented by The Real Pro Mod Association. Glidden burned past Mike Janis—the defending winner—and Bob Rahaim—the number-one qualifier—for his first Pro Mod win of the season, with a 5.893 time at 245.63 mph. Glidden successfully moved to the front of the pack from a number 10 qualifying position in the PTE 2014 Chevrolet Camaro.

“Constantly on the vigil for new restyle products, timely customizers are jumping on the bandwagon for the Dot-O-Wol tire patches,” said the article, which noted that the dots were available in black for whitewall tires and white for blackwalls.
