SEMA President and CEO Chris Kersting (right) shares a Bronze Telly Award with Bud Brutsman, executive producer and president of Brentwood Communications International Inc. Brutsman produced the “2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders” TV program, which aired on Velocity earlier this year.

SEMA has won a Bronze Telly Award in the Film/Video category for the “2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders” TV program that premiered on Velocity February 1. The one-hour special, hosted by Adrienne Janic and Chris Jacobs, featured behind-the-scenes footage and in-depth interviews with leading car designers and builders as they prepared to debut their newest creations at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The winner of the competition was revealed during SEMA Ignited—a consumer-facing event held at the conclusion of the final day of the Show.

“It’s an honor to be recognized for this achievement in only our second year of producing the ‘SEMA Battle of the Builders’ special for Velocity,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “We look forward to delivering more exciting content featuring specialty-automotive lifestyles to the public for many years to come.”

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honor outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs; video and film productions; and web commercials. Winners represent the best work from the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators and corporate video departments in the world. The 37th annual Telly Awards featured nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries.

The awards were judged by a panel of more than 600 industry professionals who rated each entry on a 10-point scale. Entries with a score of 9.0 or higher were awarded a Silver Telly statuette—the highest honor. Entries with an average score of 7.0 to 8.9 were awarded a Bronze Telly statuette for outstanding achievement.

The SEMA Export Fair is designed to offer current exporters the opportunity to exchange best practices and discuss strategies for overcoming problems that cost them time and money.

Want to grow your overseas business? If you are interested in selling to the 90% of the world’s customers residing outside the United States, participate in the first-ever SEMA Export Fair, to be held July 27, from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., at the SEMA Garage (1577 S. Valley Vista Dr., Diamond Bar, CA 91765).

The day-long program, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, will provide the opportunity to participate in roundtables and seminars featuring seasoned exporters, top overseas buyers and other key stakeholders. In addition, attendees can participate in a 30-minute private, confidential meeting with an IPR attorney to learn about taking the appropriate steps to protect their patents and trademarks. Time slots for private meetings with the attorneys are limited. Reserve your slot on a first-come, first-served basis.

The program is designed to offer current exporters the opportunity to exchange best practices and discuss strategies for overcoming problems that cost them time and money. This includes identifying the right mix of products based on the vehicles on the road in the targeted market, the most cost-effective and expedient way for getting your products to overseas customers, getting paid and protecting your trademarks, patents and copyrights. The program is also designed for those new to exporting who would like to learn how to get started in growing their customer base to reach some of the estimated 90% of buyers located outside the United States.
