This week’s SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) #SheIsSEMA Member Spotlight features Aliceje Keyburn of Race Winning Brands. As a Graphic Designer, Keyburn collaborates and coordinates on different projects across multiple teams, utilizing her skillset to advance marketing and sales strategies.

Throughout her professional career, Keyburn has worked on multiple platforms for both digital and print. Her experience includes creating animated digital banners and designing websites to full print catalogs, apparel, vehicle wraps, booth displays and more. Her passion for power-sports and off-roading is reflected in her work as she continues to advance the industry by bringing fresh ideas to push and elevate sales and brand awareness.

Get to know Keyburn in her Q&A with SEMA and SBN below:

SEMA: What is the best advice you have ever received?

Aliceje Keyburn: Not to let anyone tell you “you can’t” do something. If you believe in it, speak up and fight for it. If it doesn't work out, at least you know you tried and won't be second guessing “what if.” You learn from it and do it better the next round. Also, don’t be forgettable; get out in front of people and network for future jobs or collaborations; it's a small industry.

SEMA: What keeps you involved in this industry?

AK: My passion for both powersports and automotive. I love being around like-minded people who I can talk with, collaborate, walk shows and go to races with or even go ride dirt bikes with. Also, I am fortunate enough to work in an environment that allows me to be creative and let me do my thing. I feel respected by my peers and that they value what I have to say and the ideas I present.

SEMA: On a Saturday, where can you be found?

AK: Either working on freelance, the beach or at a motorcycle race or car show.

SEMA: How do you prepare for an important meeting?

AK: I am always open-minded and thinking of possible solutions that may have been overlooked in certain situations. I also try to keep to the point and if I am not sure about something, I will research and present at the next meeting or follow-up by email as to not waste anyone’s time.

SEMA: If you could go to lunch with one industry leader, living or dead, who would it be?

AK: Jeremy Clarkson. I think he would be a good mix of entertaining and insightful. I am sure he has some good stories about his travels around the world and the real “behind the scenes” tales of the cars and mishaps that have happened.

September’s issue of SEMA News will highlight up-and-coming superstars in the automotive aftermarket industry who are age 35 and younger. If you know a leader in that age range as of September 1, 2020—whether they are in manufacturing and design, marketing, retail, events and media, or distribution—we would like to hear from you.

Many SEMA members are currently working with creative young professionals who are already industry trailblazers. They may have played key roles in leveraging new and emerging technologies with a traditional automotive aftermarket business to expand company reach, improve product development, energize marketing efforts or upgrade customer interaction.

They could be budding talents at an established company, entrepreneurs building their own brands or innovators who have launched companies that might become big names in the future. What they all will have in common are fresh ideas, enthusiasm, charisma and the drive to succeed.

SEMA News looks for candidates drawn from diverse industry segments who are already making a significant impact through their leadership within their organizations or businesses. Council Leaders
Comprised of automotive aftermarket professionals who are passionate about the advancement of the industry, select committee volunteers work alongside industry professionals from different market segments to provide valuable programs, events, education opportunities and other resources for the council or network membership.

The deadline to submit SEMA councils and networks Select Committee nominations has been extended to April 13 at www.sema.org/volunteer. Select committee members serve within the council or network leadership and play a vital role in strategically aligning council initiatives with current member and industry needs.

Comprised of automotive aftermarket professionals who are passionate about the advancement of the industry, select committee volunteers work alongside industry professionals from different market segments to provide valuable programs, events, education opportunities and other resources for the council or network membership.

“The SEMA Council and Network program is dependent on volunteer select committee members to represent their respective market and professional niches,” said Nathan Ridnouer, SEMA Vice President of Councils and Membership. “It is through their knowledge and expertise that we are able to develop valuable and relevant new programs that truly help the industry and our members’ businesses.”

Nomination criteria include being employed by a current SEMA member company, being a current member of the council or network that the nominee would represent, and a dedicated commitment to serving a two-year minimum term.

While councils work to identify related business goals, issues and challenges for member companies in a particular market segment, networks are a platform for individuals within a SEMA-member company who share a common interest or characteristic.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone who has the skills and character to influence industry progress, fill out the online council’s nomination form. Nominations must be received by midnight April 13. The select committee elections will take place in June.

For more information about SEMA’s councils and networks or the nomination and election process, contact Nathan Ridnouer at nathanr@sema.org.
