Allstar Performance from Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan, qualified for the Dual Championships with a time of 23:28.

The second event of the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge took place at the 50th Annual Summit I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama in Cleveland last weekend. Four teams raced against the clock for their chance to qualify for the Dual National Championships to be held later this year at the SEMA Show and PRI Show.

With a variance of just 0:01:30, qualifying teams included Allstar Performance (23:28) from Lakeshore High School (Stevensville, Michigan), Vibrant Performance (24:29) from CD Hylton High School (Woodbridge, Virginia) and teams Be-Cool (24:32) and QA1 (25:05) from Elkhart Area Career Center (Elkhart, Indiana).

Hot Rodders of Tomorrow will head to Tarrant College in Fort Worth, Texas, this Saturday, March 26, 2016, for the next engine challenge.

The SEMA Data Co-op (SDC) has introduced a new feature that gives receivers instant data updates and makes it possible for manufacturers to get their products to market faster than ever before. Receivers will now automatically and instantly receive updated data formatted to their individual requirements any time a supplier publishes new information. With more than 1,200 members included in the repository, the SDC is the largest openly accessible industry product data repository.

“This is a great feature that really fills the gap in speed to market,” said Jim Graven, SDC director of membership. “Through the SDC, members will be the first to know about new products or data corrections as they happen.”

Receivers who prefer to regulate the flow of data may choose to utilize the delivery scheduler, which can manage deliveries by date and time in both full file refreshes or net changes since the last delivery.

Craig Schmutzler, director of customer support, noted, “The SDC is designed to work around the members’ individual needs and offers receiver-friendly data delivery processes. I encourage all suppliers and receivers to join the Co-op and experience our expert customer support and state-of-the-art technology.”

Legislation to require the issuance of only a single license plate for motor vehicles was amended and approved by the Iowa House. Under the amendment, sports cars and those vehicles registered as antiques would be included among those allowed to display a single plate attached to the rear of the vehicle. 

Iowa defines an antique vehicle as a motor vehicle 25 years old or older. H.F. 2148 defines a “sports car” to mean a motor vehicle originally manufactured with seats for two passengers, with a front bumper that sits 8 in. from the ground or less, and capable of exceeding 134 mph. The bill will now be heard by the Senate Transportation Committee.

The West Virginia House approved legislation authorizing local governments to hold sanctioned motor-vehicle races on public roads or airports under their jurisdiction.

Legislation authorizing local governments to hold sanctioned motor-vehicle races on public roads or airports under their jurisdiction was approved by the West Virginia House. Having already been approved by the Senate, the bill will now be sent to Governor Earl Ray Tomblin for his signature and enactment into law.
