Eleven of the nation’s premier custom car builders crafted miniature pinewood hot rods raced head to head this summer at the fifth annual Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) Pinewood Builder’s Challenge during the SEMA Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser, which was held July 18, at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Conference Center in Pomona, California.
The hot rods took to the track to benefit two children’s charities just before the banquet started. The cars were then autographed by the builders and displayed in the HRIA booth at the 2014 SEMA Show.

What do a Toyota HiLux, a Ford Ranger T6, an UAZ Hunter and a Mitsubishi L200 have in common? For one thing, these vehicles are known for being aftermarket-accessory friendly, are extremely popular with enthusiasts and are typically upgraded by owners who seek to take them off-roading. Another thing that they have in common is that none of these vehicles are sold in the United States, but being very popular throughout much of the rest of the world, they offer export-marketing potential for U.S. companies.

KGP Photography caught the first glimpse of McLaren's P13 Sports Series testing on public roads.
The Sport Series is McLaren's answer to the Porsche 911 Turbo, and thus will be priced below the 650S and P1. The car will use a detuned version of McLaren's 3.8L V8 engine, producing something in the 500hp range. The prototype shows similarities to McLaren's 650S, but with a longer and more spacious cabin, which is expected to yield more luggage space—making the P13 Sports Series more of a daily driver to compete with the 911 Turbo. Substantial changes can also be see on the rear, while McLaren's design language is clear throughout the design.
The Sports Series is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2015.
