SCCA Runoffs Return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 2021

Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) and Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) have announced that the annual SCCA National Championship Runoffs will return to the road course at IMS, September 25–October 3, 2021, for the 58th running of the championship motorsport event. Mike Cobb, SCCA president and CEO, said this will be only the second time in Runoffs history that the event has been staged at IMS. The first visit occurred in 2017. J. Douglas Boles, president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and a former SCCA competitor, noted that the histories of IMS and SCCA are intrinsically linked. Many SCCA racers have gone on to compete at the Indy 500, with Mark Donohue and Bobby Rahal currently the only drivers to earn both a Runoffs title and Indy 500 win during their careers. SCCA Vice President and COO Eric Prill said racers are currently qualifying for the 2019 Runoffs, being held for the first time ever at Virginia International Raceway October 8–13 in Alton, Virginia, followed by the 2020 Runoffs, to be conducted at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Hot Shot’s Secret Announces Sponsorship of Firepunk Diesel’s Outlaw Diesel Revenge

Hot Shot’s Secret has announced sponsorship of the first-ever Outlaw Diesel Revenge, presented by Firepunk Diesel. The event, scheduled for Friday–Saturday, May 31–June 1, is part of the Outlaw Diesel Super Series (ODSS) held at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio. The Saturday Night Finale fueled by Hot Shot’s Secret concludes the weekend event. The ODSS is comprised of numerous entities who take ownership of each leg of the series, and Firepunk Diesel—the team that is home of the two-time DPC champ, three-time UCC champ and current world record holder, is now bringing the first-ever ODSS event to Ohio. Typical for ODSS events, there will be normal class testing and qualifying runs including ET, 7.70, 6.70, 5.90, Pro Street, Pro Mod and Pro Dragster on Friday, as well as a “Friday Night Street Fight” featuring a big tire and small tire competition. During the day on Saturday, all classes will compete as usual for the ODSS, right down to the semi-finals, at which point the drag racing will be shut down and crowd engagement and involvement will be magnified for the special Saturday Night Finale, fueled by Hot Shot’s Secret.
