Builders Tom Nelson, Christian Borucki Bringing a Classic Chevy, Bonneville to 2018 SEMA Show

By John Santos

Get a sneak peek into the cars of two Battle of the Builders (BOTB) competitors; both are bringing classic vehicles from the ’50s.

Nelson Racing Engines has been in business for 15 years and is known for engine packages. They are currently working on 22 builds, but none as special as the classic Chevrolet they are bringing to the 2018 Battle of the Builders competition. The car features endless details that might be missed to the naked eye, but upon further inspection can be found. From the front bumper to the grille and trim, most of the details are handblocked. Featuring an Italian leather interior and a Bluetooth stereo that feels stock, Tom Nelson and his team kept the classic look and feel with hidden modern touches. This includes the fuel fill behind the taillight to keep a clean look for the entire vehicle. Learn more about the Classic Chevy’s custom finishes here:

Christian Borucki is bringing a fully restored ’59 Bonneville to the 2018 SEMA Show. The vehicle will have a one-of-a-kind custom chassis that was built specifically for him. Bumper-to-bumper, the vehicle is just under 20 ft. long. Borucki says the vehicle looked like swiss cheese when he first received it, and he had to build up and weld the exterior together. From Wilwood disc brakes, to an LS376 engine, everything that goes into the vehicle will be modern. According to Borucki, the car will drive like a Corvette, but look exactly like a ’59 Bonneville.
