Jason Cobb Captures the First Casey Folks Perseverance Award
The Best in the Desert’s “Casey Folks Perseverance Award” was recently announced as a new annual award presented to someone who encompasses hard work, dedication, integrity and perseverance. Jason Cobb was chosen as the first recipient of this annual award. He has been one of Best in the Desert’s most ardent supporters for years. He went through a series of serious health issues, and is now cancer-free. In the midst of these issues, he lost two jobs within the industry, but persevered throughout it all, and is now the proud owner of Trophy Lite. The next Best in the Desert race is the GMZ UTV Winter Nationals Casey Folks Parker “250” Presented by Polaris, being held January 5–6, in Parker, Arizona.

Chio Victorious at USTCC Season Finale
Patrick Chio made it two wins out of two at the final weekend of the 2017 United States Touring Car Championship at Thunderhill Raceway Park to leapfrog his way from fourth to second in the Drivers’ Championship. At the end, Chio in his Speed SF/iLap Timer/AutoLogic Nissan 350Z caught Gary Sheehan in his GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels/Total Lubricants Hyundai Genesis, repeating his double win from last year’s season finale at the same circuit. Michael Shawhan finished third in the BTM Motorwerks BMW 330i. In the Sportsman class, Ben Ho’s Aodhan Wheels Honda Civic just edged out Thomas Pitre’s Darwin Machine Acura Integra. Tom Milburn finished third in the Bay Area Drafting Acura RSX. Ali Arsham won the GT class in the GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels/Total Lubricants Hyundai Genesis with Karl Chicca’s Hawk/CCI/Sparta BMW M3 finishing second and Daniel Rose finished third in the Rose Construction BMW M3. With two wins from Chio in the Touring Car class and two wins for George Kibilov/Mel Meladze in the Super Touring class, Team Speed SF clinched the Cobra Electronics Top Team Championship over Team GoGoGear.com by 50 points in their first year in the competition.
