Ridler Award Winner Announced at 2015 Detroit Autorama
Pirelli
capped off the 2015 Detroit Autorama with news that the Ridler award winner, Don Voth, entering a car crafted by Chip Foose, won the award with a build equipped with Pirelli P Zero tires. Imposter marks the second Foose-designed and built car to receive the accolade. Foose is a long-time partner of Pirelli utilizing Pirelli premium product offerings on all of the vehicles he designs, builds or drives. Voth’s winning ’65 Chevrolet Impala SS implements all the features of a modern-era Corvette as the Impala body is fitted to a modified Corvette chassis. The Corvette frame was stretched 8 in. in the center to accommodate the lengthy Impala body. Subsequently, the body was shortened 14 in. overall with about 8 in. removed from the top roof panel and roughly 6 in. taken out of the rear quarters and deck lid. Making the most of its modern undercarriage, a number of Corvette elements made their way into the exterior. The vehicle features pocketed door handles, shark gill front fenders flairs, signature circular three-taillight design and fuel filler on the deck lid.

Every year the Ridler award attracts thousands of entries, which are then narrowed down to the top eight contenders, known as the “Pirelli Tire Great 8.” All Pirelli Tire Great 8 contenders receive a cash prize of $1,000, with the ultimate Ridler winner receiving a $10,000 cash prize.
