Hot Rodders of Tomorrow, Young Driver Seminar Help Cultivate Young Talent at PRI Trade Show

The PRI Trade Show will provide a pair of events to help cultivate the next generation of talent with the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge Championships and the Young Driver Development Seminar. This year’s Hot Rodders of Tomorrow competition has been split into a Dual Championship format with teams competing at both the recently completed SEMA Show and the PRI Show at the Indiana Convention Center, December 11–13. Two teams will emerge from each Dual Championship to face off for the 2014 Engine Challenge Championship starting Friday, December 12, at 5:00 p.m., and two additional rounds on Saturday.

Hundreds of automotive technology students from high schools across the country have taken part in regional competitions to determine which teams can disassemble and reassemble a small-block engine with aftermarket components in the fastest time. A total of 32 teams are participating this year, with more than 170 students competing. A record $3 million in scholarship funds is being offered. Team Moroso, from Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center in Choctaw, Oklahoma, defeated 22 other schools from across the nation to win last year’s Hot Rodders of Tomorrow National Championship at the PRI Trade Show in Indianapolis.

The Young Driver Development seminar will be presented by former F1 and Indy car star Derek Daly and Jeff Horton, director of engineering for the IndyCar Series. They will address parents of young drivers in a seminar, focusing on the critical steps to take to develop their young driver, Friday, December 12, at 8:00 a.m. in room 212.
