Movers & Shakers: Jessi Combs Named WyoTech Spokesperson; Melissa Scoles Promoted to President of QA1

Jessi Combs Named WyoTech Spokesperson
Jessi Combs was named WyoTech’s official spokesperson in May. After graduating from WyoTech's Laramie campus in 2004, Combs became a successful fabricator and television personality. She will represent the school at selected events and speak to students at WyoTech campuses across the country. Combs was a guest fabricator on the set of "Overhaulin’," and was soon hired as the co-host of "Xtreme 4x4," part of the Powerblock series on Spike TV. She held this position for four years and 90+ episodes. As official spokesperson, Combs has already inspired hundreds of WyoTech students at the Laramie campus in June of this year. During her visit, she demonstrated her welding skills, signed autographs and spoke about her experiences in the automotive and racing industries. On September 28, Combs will visit the WyoTech campus in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, where she’ll deliver her message and continue to raise awareness of the value of a WyoTech automotive technical education.

Design Engineering Provides Products, Training for Ohio Technical College Students 
Design Engineering Inc.
has partnered with Ohio Technical College to help students prepare for a successful career in automotive and powersports industries. Design Engineering is sharing company expertise and product resources through the partnership. DEI staff Mike Zenone, business development manager and Boom Mat product manager; Steve Garrett, DEI art director and media coordinator; and Dan Stark, DEI technical support and customer service representative, spent time at Ohio Technical College training the college’s instructors on several of DEI’s products.

Melissa Scoles Named President of QA1
QA1 promoted Melissa Scoles to company president. CEO and founder Jim Jordan stated, “QA1 is fortunate to have someone with Melissa’s broad skill sets to assume this position within the company.” Scoles has been associated with QA1 since she was a teenager, as Jordan is her father. She started at the company folding boxes and worked the company’s trade shows during college. She then worked through every department at the company, taking a break to get outside experience and attain her MBA from Carlson School of Management. She studied in both Europe and Asia while earning her degrees. When she returned in January of 2011, she joined the QA1 team again as vice president of marketing, to be quickly promoted to executive vice president and now president.

Kevin Borchert Named Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student
Kevin Borchert from Racine, Wisconsin, was named the 2013 Mitchell 1 Automotive Technology Outstanding Student during the recent during the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) conference. Mitchell 1 recognizes one U.S. or Canadian high school senior each year for outstanding achievement in automotive technology and auto shop repair scholastics. Borchert received a $2,500 scholarship, a check for $500 and roundtrip airfare and accommodations for himself and a guest to attend the NACAT conference. Borchert graduated from Case High School in Racine, Wisconsin, in May 2012. He is currently enrolled in the automotive technician associate degree program at the Milwaukee Area Technical College and is expected to finish in October 2014. His ultimate career goal is to work as a professional technician at an aftermarket repair facility that installs and repairs performance equipment.

Donaldson Company Adds Andrew Cecere to Board of Directors
Donaldson Company Inc. has appointed Andrew Cecere to its board of directors, effective September 27. The addition of Cecere brings the Donaldson board of directors to 11 members. Cecere is the vice chairman and financial officer of U.S. Bancorp, a position he has held since 2007. Previously, he served as vice chairman of wealth management and securities services of U.S. Bancorp. "Andy has a great track record of managing large multi-division banking businesses," said Donaldson CEO Bill Cook. "Andy's extensive banking expertise and financial acumen will provide us with valuable counsel and perspective to help us achieve our strategic growth plans. We are very excited to have him join our board."
