Brian Deegan Back on Podium in Global Rallycross Championship Round 2
Metal Mulisha cofounder and 2011 X Games Global Rallycross Gold Medalist “The General” Brian Deegan finished third at Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend during the second round of Global Rallycross Championship.

In his Rockstar Energy/Metal Mulisha Ford Fiesta, Deegan won his qualifying heat and advanced to the final with a key starting position. Deegan pulled the holeshot in the outside lane and was leading with three laps to go until the race was red flagged. On the restart, Deegan again pulled the holeshot from the outside lane and was racing towards the lead when Ken Block suffered a flat, causing Deegan to slow up from hitting him and thus falling back into second place.

A few laps later, the race was red flagged again and the drivers had to face their second restart of the race. With a tired car and tires from pushing it off the start in the previous two races, Deegan had an uphill task to pull a third holeshot. He came out third on the restart and kept it close until the finish where he was only a couple car lengths behind teammate Tanner Foust for second place. This was the first race for the portable 70-ft. jump in which many drivers struggled to handle; however, Deegan had success with it and kept the pressure on the other drivers leading into X Games 18.

The Global Rallycross Championship will return June 30–July 1 in Los Angeles at X Games 18.
