QA1 Acquires Edelbrock's Suspension Product Line
Edelbrock sold its suspension product line to QA1—an acquisition
that will add more than 100 part numbers to QA1's shock absorber, spring
and tubular suspension product offerings. According to a recent
announcement, Edelbrock added suspension products in 1994 with a limited
line of components for Camaro and Mustang applications. Since then, the
product line has grown to include anti-hop bars, k-member braces, Panhard rods, strut tower braces, subframe connectors, sway bars, toe
links, torque and trailing arms, along with a variety of other products
for popular musclecar and late-model applications. The acquisition
includes all manufacturing equipment, raw materials, current and future
product designs as well as any existing inventory. The companies report that all of these
components will transition to QA1 on September 1, 2011.

New Drivers Join Exclusive Spectre 3:41 Club
The 2nd Annual Speed by Spectre 341 Challenge, which took place in June,
featured 48 drivers, 391 runs and five new members of the exclusive
Spectre 3:41 Club. The challenge is to charge up a 5.2-mile mountain road
in Virginia City, Nevada—complete with no guard rails and 500-ft.
drop-offs—to achieve a time less than three minutes and 41 seconds to
join the exclusive Spectre 3:41 club.
Lou Gigliotti of Wylie, Texas, hit the hill in his LG Motorsports 2010
ZR1and recorded the best time of the day at 3:14, which was fast enough
to named the overall event winner and 7.3 seconds faster than his
winning run last year.
On the heels of Gigliotti was Duck Fuson, who posted a second-place time
of 3:15.2 in his 2,300-lb. Porsche 911 Turbo. The third and final
spot on the podium was errand by Jeff Rosen, who drove a ’11 Porsche
911 GT3 RS and ran a 3:22.2. Jeremy Kappus missed a podium spot by about
two seconds, posting a fourth-place finish at 3:24.2 with his daily
driver Lancer Evo IX.
“We made 391 runs up a very fast and twisty mountain road—5.2 miles at a
time—with no guardrails and steep drop-offs,” said Spectre Performance
President and current 341 record holder Amir Rosenbaum. “That's more than
2,000 miles at a very high rate of speed. That's almost coast-to-coast
on a narrow twisty road at high speed! With only one minor crunchlet and
four minor breakdowns out of almost 400 runs, the 2011 Speed by Spectre
341 Challenge was truly epic. We proved that you can get a large group
of drivers to be very focused and very careful and very safe and very,
very fast. Next year will be even faster.”
Due to the success of the 2011 event, dates for The Third Annual Speed
by Spectre 341 Challenge are set for June 15–17, 2012. For videos,
photo galleries, driver blogs and more from the 341 Challenge, visit
