Denny Hamlin earned Joe Gibbs Racing its third 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup series season win this weekend at the Heluva Good! 400 at Michigan International Speedway. In all three Joe Gibbs victories, the team has relied on the performance of Raybestos racing brakes and chassis products. Hamlin, in his No. 11 FedEx Toyota, crossed the stripe just .281 seconds ahead of Roush Fenway Racing driver Matt Kenseth. Kyle Busch, Hamlin's teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing, finished third for the second week in a row.

Pro Diesel World Record Set in the Eighth-Mile at National Trails Raceway
A new record was set on June 4 at the National Trails Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, by Wade Moody's S-10 Pro Diesel truck running 5.20 in the eighth-mile at 125 mph, backed up by a 5.13 at 126 mph. Running clean with a no-smoke Duramax, Moody has set quite the accomplishment for such a young driver. Moody's truck is sponsored in part by Industrial Injection, AirWerks, PPE, Flo-Pro Performance Exhaust, Hughes Performance, Mickey Thompson, K&N, Lucas Oil and Diesel Motorsports. The National Association of Diesel Motorsports (NADM) is a sanctioning body for diesel motorsports in the United States and holds more than 12 national events, along with 50-plus affiliate events nationwide.

Motul on the Mountain

Motul, a lubricant manufacturer, is now turning its attention to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On June 26, Motul will be technical partner to six cars, which are represented in two of the multiple categories on the entry list at Pikes Peak. The "Race to the Clouds" is an annual automobile and motorcycle climb, first run in 1916, on alternating surfaces of both dirt and tarmac to the 14,110-ft. summit. To get there, man and machine must negotiate 156 turns over a distance of 12.42 miles.
The Unlimited Class has its sights set on sub 10-min. records. Motul will be on board two cars—the No Limit Dacia Duster of Frenchman Jean-Philippe Dayraut and the Rally Ready Team Mitsubishi Evo 959 piloted by Texan Dave Carapetyan. Dayraut delivered last winter’s SuperTouring and Andros Trophies in the European Ice Racing Championship to Motul. His car is supported by Tork Engineering and Renault Sport. Carapetyan’s car was also purpose-built for capturing the overall trophy on the mountain.
In the Time Attack class, Motul is supporting four cars: the Subaru of Las Vegas/Zenkai Motorsports WRX STi Pikes Peak Special, the Rally Ready Team Subaru Impreza, a Ford Shelby GT500 driven by Kashmeer Singh and the Fatman Racing Nissan 240SX.
In two-wheel drive, Rookie Kashmeer Singh lines up his Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 alongside the Nissan 240SX of Fatman Racing driven by Ken Stouffer who last year placed second. The Nissan will be the cause of considerable attention due to the presence of Stouffer’s co-driver Travis Tollett who, in 2009, became the first quadriplegic competitor in the (then) 87-year history of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
Racers Against Street Racing True Street Challenge Prize List
The NMRA and NMCA will produce the first West Coast Shootout event at
Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, the weekend of July 8–10,
2011. This event will feature all the cars and all the stars from the
West Coast drag-racing scene. PSCA class rules for this event will be followed.
The Racers Against Street Racing (RASR) True Street Challenge class, which will run on Saturday, July 9, will feature street-type racers, media and manufacturers all mixing it up on the quarter-mile for fun, prizes and a great cause. True Street racers will win cash, awards and bonus prizes from NMRA and NMCA sponsors. Take a look at the prize list below. There is upwards of $10,000 in bonus prizes with more to come.
