Racing News: X Games Gold Medalist Travis Pastrana to Enter NASCAR Nationwide Series

EXTREME SPORT: Travis Pastrana, a multiple X Games gold medal winner and former Rally America champion, will try his hand at NASCAR next year when he enters up to seven NASCAR Nationwide Series events for Pastrana-Waltrip Racing.

CHAMPS: John Force (Funny Car), Larry Dixon (Top Fuel), Greg Anderson (Pro Stock) and L.E. Tonglet (Pro Stock Motorcycle) emerged as champions of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series during the season finale at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, California.

WELCOME BACK: Chevrolet will return to the IZOD IndyCar Series as an engine supplier in 2012 after being absent from IndyCar racing since the end of the 2005 season. Team Penske has already committed to using the new Chevrolet engine in 2012.

UNEXPECTED: Sebastian Vettel came from third in the standings at the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to become the youngest Formula One World Driving Champion in the history of the series.

DROUGHT OVER: Carl Edwards ended a 70-race winless streak in NASCAR Sprint Cup competition with his victory Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.

SECOND EVENT: The American-Canadian Tour for late models will visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire, twice in 2011.

RARE FIRST: Steve Kinser earned his first victory with the traveling Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Saturday night at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

SO LONG:
SCCA Pro Racing President and CEO Bob Wildberger will resign his post effective January 17.

NEW BOSS:
Former NASCAR competitor Robert Pressley has been named the new promoter of Kingsport (Tennessee) Speedway.

SECOND TITLE:
Todd Bodine clinched his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship Friday at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.
