PROMOTED: Herb Branham, who joined NASCAR in 2001, has been named Gram Am Road Racing Series’ managing director of communications. He was formerly NASCAR’s director of Written Communications.
RETURNING: The Grand Am Rolex Series will return to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, during the 2011 season.
STRAIGHT SHOT: Chase Elliott, the 14-year-old son of former NASCAR champion Bill Elliott, won the 39th running of the Winchester 400 late-model race at Winchester (Indiana) Speedway Saturday afternoon.
DIED: Jeff Byrd, Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway president and general manager, died Sunday following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 60.
