Movers & Shakers: Babcox Promotes Greg Cira and Jeff Stankard to VP Positions; Goodguys Builder's Choice Award Returns for 2010

Babcox promoted Chief Financial Officer Greg Cira and Group Publisher Jeff Stankard to vice president positions within the company. Greg Cira has served as CFO of Babcox since 1992 and is responsible for all corporate operational needs, including financial reporting, human resource issues and legal matters. Stankard has been with Babcox since June 1999 and is now responsible for Brake & Front End, ImportCar, Underhood Service, TechShop, Tomorrow’s Technician and Servicio Automotriz magazines as well as the autocarepro:news e-newsletter. Both Cira and Stankard will continue in their current roles in addition to serving as vice presidents of Babcox. Bill Babcox remains chairman, president and CEO.

Motor City Motors
Miller Electric will provide tools and prizes for Discovery Channel's "Motor City Motors."

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. has partnered with the Discovery Channel and its newest automotive TV show, "Motor City Motors." The show features metalworking specialists in a five-day contest to transform an old car into something unique and powerful. Teams are equipped with Miller welding, cutting and fume extraction equipment for the challenges, and the teams will compete for $5,000 in tools. "Motor City Motors" is set to air Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. (EST/PST), 9:00 p.m. (CST).

The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association announced that its Builder’s Choice awards program has returned for 2010. Known as one of the highest honors a car can receive at a Goodguys national event, the Builder’s Choice awards are selected by some of the nation’s top builders. Superchips will sponsor professional anglers Mike Webb, Steve Boillots and the Kids Are Special Too (KAST) program for 2010. The KAST Program was founded by Webb and Boillots to educate kids and young adults. The team’s presentations introduce youth to the outdoors as an alternative to drugs. Webb and Boillots attend school assemblies, summer camps and visit scout troops with their trucks and boats across the country.

Nominations are open for the Cruisin’ Hall of Fame. Nomination forms are available online at www.route-66.org. Inductees will be honored during the 21st Annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous, September 16–19, in San Bernardino. The nomination deadline is Sunday, February 28.

1966 Mustang
"Pay it Forward" 1966 Mustang debuts at the 2009 SEMA Show.

Scott Drake Enterprises donated an un-restored '66 Ford Mustang and $10,000 in parts to Mustang Club of America (MCA) in 2009 through a program known as “Pay it Forward.” Mustangs of East Texas, an MCA club, completed a six-month restoration, and the vehicle debuted in the Scott Drake Enterprises booth at the 2009 SEMA Show. The beautifully restored Mustang now heads for the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Phoenix, Arizona, and will go on the block on Sunday, January 24. All proceeds from the vehicle will go to the East Texas Crisis Center. More information is available at www.scottdrake.net.
