DIED: Bob Tasca Sr., the man that coined the phrase: “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday,” died Friday at age 83. A Ford dealer and supporter throughout most of his life, Tasca is the grandfather of current NHRA Funny Car racer Bob Tasca III.
RETIRING: After more than 30 years as a driver and then a team owner, legendary Don “The Snake” Prudhomme has retired from NHRA drag racing, disbanding his Top Fuel team, which won twice last year with rookie driver Spencer Massey because of a lack of sponsorship dollars.
ICE MAN: Unheralded Randall Walker topped the Ice Bowl dirt-late-model event at Alabama’s Talladega Short Track.
BIG DOLLARS: The Pro All Star Series for asphalt late models is planning a major event for April 7–9, 2011, at North Wilkesboro (NC) Speedway. The event will pay the winner at least $75,000 and could pay as much as $100,000.
A PROMOTION: Andrew Gurtis has been promoted to vice president of operations at Daytona International Speedway.
NEW TEAM: Jeff Britton has joined A.J. Foyt Racing as chief engineer for the team and driver Vitor Meira.
NEW JOB: Former Gateway International Raceway General Manager Lenny Batycki has been named executive vice president of the POWRi Midget Series.
ENGINE CHANGE: The Chip Ganassi Racing Grand Am Rolex Series team has made the switch from Lexus to BMW power for its two Daytona Prototype entries beginning with the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
