Racing News: Mercedes Buys Majority of Formula One World Champ Brawn Racing

PURCHASED: Mercedes has bought 75.1% of the World Championship-winning Brawn Racing Formula One team, with current team owners Ross Brawn and Nick Fry retaining 24.9% of the team, which won the world title with Jenson Button driving.

MANAGER: Phoenix Management Group LLC will take over operation of the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series next season, managing the traveling tour for 2010.

CHAMPIONS: Tony Schumacher secured his seventh NHRA Top Fuel drag racing championship by a mere two points over Larry Dixon. Robert Hight (Funny Car), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also earned championships.

THE END: Anheuser-Busch officials marked the end of its 30th season sponsoring drag racer Kenny Bernstein by presenting the King of Speed with a Clydesdale horse during the NHRA season finale in Pomona, California.

NO DEAL:
Team owner Rick Hendrick said there is “no deal imminent” that would bring Indy car racer Danica Patrick to the NASCAR Nationwide Series for a limited schedule in 2010.

SPRINTING:
Pennsylvania youngster Cody Darrah has signed to drive for Kasey Kahne Racing in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series next season.
