Make a Life-Changing Difference at the SEMA Show

SEMA Cares Booth
The SEMA Cares Committee aims to bring the voice and resources of the SEMA community together to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Visit the SEMA Cares Booth at the SEMA Show (in the Las Vegas Convention Center on the Skywalk at the entrance to the South Hall) to learn about the important charities SEMA has teamed up with to help improve the lives of vulnerable children. On hand will be volunteers from Childhelp, an organization which provides service for neglected and abused children, as well as Victory Junction Gang Camp, which provides life-changing camping experiences for disabled and chronically ill children.

The SEMA Cares booth will also feature the second annual bone marrow donor drive. This year’s drive is in Memory of Bill Perry, a former member of the SEMA Board of Directors and Hall of Fame.

Participating in the “Be the Match” program, which takes only a few minutes, could mean the difference between life or death for someone needing a bone-marrow donation. All that’s needed to sign up is the completion of a brief questionnaire and a quick cheek swab.

Rounding out the programs featured in the 2009 SEMA Cares booth is the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund, designed to foster industry leadership by supporting the education of students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket, has helped more 400 students, cumulating in more than $1,000,000 in grants since its establishment in 1984.

The SEMA Cares Committee, established by the SEMA Board of Directors in 2007, aims to bring the voice and resources of the SEMA community together to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Joel Ayres, national marketing director for the Truck Accessories Group, heads up this committee.

Commented Ayres, “This is a chance for Show attendees to learn about the charities SEMA Cares supports and to see the good work our industry does to improve the lives of those in need. The SEMA Cares booth staff will be able to answer questions anyone has on Childhelp, Victory Junction, the SEMA Scholarship Program or the bone marrow donor program. SEMA members have a big heart, and this is our opportunity to show it to the entire automotive aftermarket industry.”
