Movers & Shakers: Mike and Steve Bolio Form Fulcrum Marketing, SCCA Names Club Racing Workers of the Year, and More

Mike Bolio and his father, SEMA Hall of Fame member Steve Bolio, have teamed up to launch Fulcrum Marketing, a manufacturers’ rep firm aimed at specialty automotive industry manufacturers and distributors. Mike Bolio has more than 24 years in the specialty automotive industry working in warehousing and retail. He worked with Moroso Performance as Eastern sales manager and has been a manufacturers’ rep for the past 16 years. He currently serves on the SEMA Manufacturers Rep Council (MRC), SEMA Young Executives Network (YEN) Select Committee and the SEMA Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) council.

The Tire Service Equipment MFG. Co. Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona, acquired all inventory, trademarks, equipment and manufacturing rights of Amermac, Inc. of Ellaville, Georgia. In business for over 50 years, Amermac Inc. is widely recognized as a leader in tire vibration equipment and is renowned throughout the automotive trucking industry and the motorsports world.

ASA Tire Systems presented its first annual “Dealer of the Year” award to Becker Tire and Treading of Great Bend, Kansas, during ASA’s client conference, InfoExpo, in August. Nominations were made by ASA Account Managers, and voted on by all ASA staffers. Considerations include successes in business, overcoming adversity, community relations, volunteer work, employee satisfaction, charity, technology adoption and other attributes.

The 2009 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Club Racing Worker of the Year Awards were presented on September 24, at Road America. Every year, the SCCA requests nominations from its members for Worker of the Year in 10 categories, and a peer group from each worker specialty selects the individuals they feel have earned the honor. Each award winner will be featured in a 2010 issue of SportsCar.

This year’s winners include: Flagging & Communications, Bob Newberg (Blackhawk Region); Pit & Grid, Renee Angel (Cal Club); Race Administration, Robey Clark (Texas Region); Registration, Kay Imig (Milwaukee Region); Scrutineer, Kyle Springer (Washington DC Region); Sound, Barney Powers (Cincinnati Region); Starter, John Horn (Central Florida Region); Steward, John Nesbitt (Washington DC Region); and Timing & Scoring, Linda Louie (Northern New Jersey Region). In addition, Barney Powers won a lifetime membership to SCCA in a random drawing of the 2010 Workers of the Year.

Discovery’s Science Channel’s “How it’s Made” will feature the rolling red Snap-on toolbox on Friday, October 2 at 9:00 p.m. (EST). Currently airing on the Discovery’s Science Channel, “How it’s Made” is a documentary program showing how everyday items are manufactured. Six Snap-on tools were chosen in total to be used in “How it’s Made”, including a pneumatic impact wrench, ratchet, combination wrench, socket/extension set, screwdriver set and a rolling red tool box.

Detroit Speed Inc. will host an open house at its new building on Friday, October 30, following the Goodguys Charlotte show. The company will provide tours of its new machine shop, and the festivities will include BBQ and giveaways.
