MOVERS & SHAKERS: DUSTIN WHITNEY, JEFF PRIEBE, TODD BURAS AND MORE

Agri-Cover Inc. promoted Dustin Whitney to western national sales manager. In his new role, Whitney is responsible for managing sales and accounts on the West Coast and all of Canada. He brings five years of automotive aftermarket experience to the company and has held previous sales management positions within the company. Dustin is based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In addition, Agri-Cover Inc. also added Jeff Priebe to its sales team as midwest regional account manager. Priebe is responsible for managing accounts in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia. He brings more than 14 years of retail automotive aftermarket experience to ACI and has a bachelors degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame. Priebe is based out of Evansville, Indiana.

Research Racing LLC announced that the 2008 “Drive To Survive” campaign signed Todd Buras to drive its BSI Racing Mazda MX-5 racecar in this year’s SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup. The mission for team principals Allan Boshell and Chad Stanford in fielding a car with Buras behind the wheel is to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer and to encourage others to visit the Foundation's website www.pancreaticcure.org

Classic Instruments Inc. announced its sponsorship of the Danchuk “Blaze of Glory” Jet Funny Car driven by Paul Miller for 2008. Danchuk specializes in Tri-Five Chevy restoration parts. “This partnership is a perfect match for Classic Instruments and Danchuk,” stated Classic Instruments owner John McLeod. “I am very excited to add a company like Danchuk to our sponsorship family.”

DynoMax Performance Exhaust, the performance exhaust brand of Tenneco Inc., will continue its Power to the Wheels series for 2008. The company will also launch two new classes for 2008—Power Adder and All Motor. The inaugural 2007 Dyno Tour Championship was created to test the horsepower and torque of musclecars outfitted with DynoMax and Thrush exhaust systems and headers.

General Tire was named the official tire for the inaugural season of the 2008 KMC Wheels TROPHYLITE Championship Series presented by KC HiLiTES. Beginning with the Best in the Desert Blue Water Gran Prix May 16–18, all TROPHYLITE competitors will be equipped with the new General Tire Grabber competition tires. The 2008 series will feature five races that will include both desert- and short-course settings. General Tire has affirmed their commitment to the 2008 series by posting an additional $25,000 bonus to the purse, which stands at $77,500.

Tire Group International acquired all assets of Serit Tire Wholesale, a USA-based exporter of tires specializing in sales to Brazil and the Caribbean.Terms of the deal were not disclosed. “This acquisition gives TGI an instant presence in Brazil, which is a market we have been absent from the last nine years. We are also retaining the services of STW’s president Ernie Rodriguez. Rodriguez will be responsible for the continuing development of this market, as well as developing other key markets we have targeted. Mr. Rodriguez has more than 15 years experience in international tire sales, and his expertise will be another asset TGI can count on,” said Tony Gonzalez, Tire Group International’s chief executive officer.
