Omix-ADA will feature seven unique Jeeps from its corporate collection at its Off-Road Success Center during the 2014 SEMA Show. The company will display nine new and historic vehicles covering almost 50 years of Jeep history, including:

  • ’48 CJ-2A – One of the first examples of post-war civilian-era Jeeps, the CJ-2A was marketed as "The All-Around Farm Work-Horse." This well-restored gray example features a 60hp engine and three-speed transmission.
  • ’60 Surrey DJ-3A – A unique version of the DJ Jeep, the Surrey features a turquoise paint scheme and striped canvas top with fringe. Surreys were primarily marketed toward luxury hotels and resorts for use as courtesy vehicles.
  • ’64 CJ-3B – This nicely restored example originally did duty as a support vehicle for a power utility company in Alabama.
  • ’67 CJ-6 – This CJ-6 is an all-original, 14,000-mile, unrestored example of what was effectively a long-wheelbase version of the CJ-5. Featuring the original paint, top and tires, this Jeep was previously owned by a funeral home director just outside of Detroit, who used the vehicle as a volunteer ambulance during foul weather, when ordinary vehicles couldn’t pass.
  • ’71 Hurst Jeepster Commando – One of 100 original Hurst-modified Jeepsters, this restored example features a red, white and blue paint scheme and a 160hp V6 engine.
  • ’73 CJ-5 “Super Jeep” – Only produced in ’73, the Super Jeep was the company’s answer to a wheel shortage that kept it from producing the CJ-5 Renegade. This is one of only a few hundred to be produced. Featuring Jeep’s stock wheels painted white, the Super Jeep also distinguished itself with unique interior and exterior colors, including a wild decal package on the hood and fenders. The CJ-5 has the unique distinction of being the longest continually produced U.S. vehicle. More than 600,000 CJ-5s were produced between 1955 and 1983.
  • ’82 CJ-7 – Prior to being owned by Omix-ADA, this CJ-7 was used as a brushfire truck with the Northwest Homer Fire Protection District in Texas. It can go off paved roads to battle fire where larger, heavier fire trucks could not.

In addition to the seven historic Jeeps, Omix-ADA will also bring two brand-new, fully customized JK Wranglers, one as part of the company’s giveaway contest for 2014 SEMA Show attendees, and the other as part of a charitable donation benefitting SEMA Cares.

The Off-Road Success Center, now in its third year at the SEMA Show, provides a forum where business owners and industry enthusiasts within the Jeep and off-road market can exchange ideas, learn new concepts and network with other industry professionals.

The Robert E. Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the 2014 SEMA Show's New Products Awards Breakfast.
The prestigious Robert E. Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented at the 2014 SEMA Show, during the New Products Awards Breakfast, Tuesday, November 4. Founded nearly a decade ago, the award is presented to the founders and pioneers of the hot-rod industry. For the first time ever, the award will be presented at the SEMA Show.

“The SEMA Show is the most logical and best home for the Robert E. Petersen Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Terry Karges, executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. “As a pioneer in the industry, Mr. Petersen was an inspiration and mentor for many in the industry.”

Petersen started Hot Rod magazine in 1948 with $400. The Petersen empire grew to become the largest and most successful publishing enterprise in the West. Hot Rod, Motor Trend and dozens of other Petersen titles packed newsstand racks throughout the U.S. and, at their peak, Petersen magazines reached nearly 80 million readers per month.

Showgoers are invited to attend the New Products Awards Breakfast taking place November 4, at 7:30 a.m. at the Westgate Resort & Casino by securing tickets online. Tickets to the breakfast are free, but because space it limited, they are required. In addition to a sit-down breakfast, the event features presentations for the best new products in the industry and the SEMA Award for the industry’s hottest vehicles.

  keynote
The Keynote & Coffee series will begin at 9:00 a.m. each morning of the SEMA Show.

The Keynote & Coffee series—taking place each morning throughout the week of the 2014 SEMA Show—continues on Wednesday with Seth Mattison, an expert on millennials and the workplace. The workforce is changing, and not just because the younger people entering it are so different from those approaching the end of their careers.

In “The Future of Work Today: Insights From the New World of Work,” starting November 5, at 9:00 a.m., Mattison, founder and chief movement officer of FutureSight Labs, points out how fast the business world is shifting today and the challenges leaders will face over the next few years—not the least of which are those dealing with the workforce.

Mattison covers what he calls the five super trends that will shape the future of work as leaders learn to harness the power of their top talent, tap the brainpower of a new generation of employees and adapt quickly to a fast-moving marketplace. This is a message Mattison has delivered to executives at Fortune 500 companies, including Johnson and Johnson, Microsoft and AT&T. Join him for a cup of free coffee as he delivers his message for SEMA.

On Thursday, November 6, Keynote & Coffee attendees will have a chance to mull over a surprising set of statistics: While 39% of car buyers today say connected vehicle technologies—such as voice activation, gesture control and heads-up displays—are the top selling points for them, only 14% say their most important consideration is still performance and speed. What do those numbers mean to the aftermarket industry? Find out at Thursday morning’s “Digital Technology in the Car—Silicon Valley Tech Meets Motor City Apps” with a six-speaker panel from Detroit and Silicon Valley.

The race is on right now to define what the vehicle of the future will look like. What role will digital technology, vehicle electronics and software developments play? The answer to those complex questions will impact the aftermarket industry for decades to come. Attend this exciting session to get a glimpse of what your business should look like 10 or 20 years from now.

SEMA Show Education Days will feature more than 60 educational sessions in 12 different tracks, ranging from new-vehicle technology to best business practices to marketing strategies and emerging trends in the industry. To see the complete schedule of SEMA Show Education courses and pre-register, visit www.SEMAShow.com/education.
