Collector Car Appreciation Day Scheduled for July 11, 2014

 

Collector Car Appreciation Day has become an annual event marked with special events by car clubs across the country, such as the Crazy Cruisers of Panama City, Florida.

SEMA and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization and Hot Rod Industry Alliance have announced that the next Collector Car Appreciation Day will be celebrated July 11, 2014. The date will mark the fifth consecutive commemoration in what is now an annual event to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.

The industry endeavors to preserve the nation’s automotive heritage while providing well-paying, high-skilled jobs nationwide. Collector Car Appreciation Day is a singular tribute to the collector-car industry and the millions of hobbyists it supports.

The U.S. Senate helped launch Collector Car Appreciation Day by passing resolutions each year at the request of the SEMA Action Network (SAN). Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) and Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) sponsored the previous resolutions.

Senators Tester and Burr have been strong advocates for the automotive hobby in Washington, D.C., and recognize the integral role collector cars have played in fostering our nation’s appreciation for the automobile’s unique place in history. This year, New Mexico; New York; Manitoba; Nova Scotia; Madera County, California; and Washington Parish, Louisiana, joined the U.S. Senate in proclaiming Collector Car Appreciation Day.

The SAN will again maintain and publicize a list of scheduled events to commemorate America’s time-tested love affair with the automobile here. Individuals, car clubs and business owners interested in publicizing events may submit the details of their celebrations using that link. Funds raised through the SEMA Cares Bike Drive will go toward the purchase of bicycles for each of the children at the Childhelp Merv Griffin Village.SEMA Cares has teamed up with Childhelp to purchase bicycles for the children of Merv Griffin Village. Childhelp is a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect. Childhelp exists to meet the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children.

Companies that would like to support the cause are encouraged to make a donation by visiting here. All donations received through the SEMA Cares Bike Drive will be used to purchase bikes for every one of the children at the Childhelp Merv Griffin Village.

The panelists for the Town Hall include SEMA Chairman Nate Shelton, B&M Racing and Performance Products Inc.; Joel Ayres, Bedslide/Tākit Inc.; and John Hotchkis, Hotchkis Performance LLC.

SEMA’s Town Hall Meetings offer members and prospective members an in-depth look at SEMA programs and services offered to all businesses, whether they are manufacturers, retailers, media representatives or service providers.
