Whether it’s a vroom, a honk or a zoom, the industry is raising awareness and helping children in need by participating in the #MotorSoundChallenge on social media.

Issued by SEMA Cares, the #MotorSound Challenge is an activity involving making the sound of a motor engine with your mouth, recording it and posting the video to your social media account with the hashtag #MotorSoundChallenge. The goal? Promote awareness and encourage friends and colleagues to make a charitable donation to SEMA Cares.

Donations help support the charities that best reflect the values of the automotive specialty equipment industry, including the Austin Hatcher Foundation for pediatric cancer, Childhelp for the prevention and treatment of child abuse, and the Victory Junction camp for children with serious medical conditions and serious illnesses.

Take the challenge by posting your video with the hashtag #MotorSoundChallenge, tag your friends and colleagues encouraging them to do the same, and follow the hashtag to see and hear the industry’s motor sounds!

Support for SEMA Cares is also available through direct donation, or by purchasing a SEMA Cares Build-at-Home Pinewood Derby Car.

U.S. Congressional lawmakers are seeking to reach agreement on a $908 billion coronavirus stimulus plan crafted by a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators. Several issues remain unresolved such as whether to include a SEMA-supported temporary federal liability shield against COVID-related lawsuits and funding for state and local governments.

The bill would reopen the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to provide loans for businesses with 300 or fewer employees. The loans are forgiven if requirements are met, and amounts spent on business expenses would not be taxable. The bill could also make it easier for businesses to file loan forgiveness applications, especially for loans of $150,000 or less.

The bill would extend $300 weekly federal supplement unemployment insurance for four months and provide relief funds for child care, education, farmers, airlines, the U.S. Postal Service and vaccine development, among other provisions. The proposal does not currently include a second round of direct payments for individuals (adults and children).

Lawmakers will be seeking to reach agreement on the coronavirus relief package during the week of December 14.

While traveling may be a challenge during the pandemic, the 2021 MPMC Media Trade Conference makes it possible for journalists to meet with motorsports parts manufacturers in private, quality meetings by signing up at www.sema.org/mtc.

Taking place entirely online from January 26-28, 2021, the event includes dozens of the manufacturers sharing new products, company updates and plans for the future race season. Meetings are private and live, and they take place through video so manufacturers may be showcasing product demonstrations.

Journalists from throughout the world are invited to participate at no cost. Journalists may also sign up for one, two or all three days of the event, and can even choose to customize their schedule for full or partial days.

Media will select which manufacturers fit their editorial needs and match their target audience, so only meetings that are requested and relevant are scheduled.

Registrations and meetings requested by December 11 will receive priority. Sign up and get more details by visiting www.sema.org/mtc or contact pr@sema.org.

Thank you for your attention to this important request.

Sincerely,
