SEMA has announced the industry’s Best New Products Award winners, with the products featured this week in the inaugural SEMA360 online trade event. The winners, which are selected from more than 2,200 products in the SEMA360 New Products Showcase at www.sema360.com, November 2-6, represent the most innovative and cutting-edge automotive aftermarket products that will be consumable in 2021.

The annual awards, which are typically presented at the automotive industry’s leading trade event, the SEMA Show, recognize outstanding achievements in the development of products that enhance the performance, styling, comfort, convenience and safety of cars, trucks and SUVs. This year, the products and awards are presented online through SEMA360—the online event that is making it possible for auto-parts manufacturers to connect with professional buyers from throughout the world.

While the Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Drink Toyota GR Supra that competes in the 2020 Formula DRIFT Pro class with champion driver Fredric Aasbo cannot be on the SEMA Show floor this year, it is primed and ready for racing as part of Toyota’s 2020 SEMA360 showcase presentation.

Toyota debuted four vehicles today on SEMA360, and will follow with more during the coming weeks.

While the Papadakis Racing Rockstar Energy Drink Toyota GR Supra that competes in the 2020 Formula DRIFT Pro class with champion driver Fredric Aasbo cannot be on the SEMA Show floor this year, it is primed and ready for racing as part of Toyota’s 2020 SEMA360 showcase presentation.

Papadakis Racing has earned championships and achieved records across several sport-compact racing disciplines. When Toyota announced the return of the Supra sports car nameplate to the model lineup, they were one of the first to modify the Supra’s 2988cc B58 inline six-cylinder engine for racing, specifically for Formula DRIFT. 

The stout B58 powerplant produces 382 hp and 368 lb.-ft. of torque, and when combined with the all-new GR Supra platform, the package gave the team a solid foundation for a formidable drift racer. Focused on pushing the new engine’s performance limits, the team tore down the engine, reworked the head with help from Portflow Design, and added a package of competition-level components with an eye on increasing performance without sacrificing reliability.

The long list of upgrades includes a BorgWarner EFR 9280 turbocharger with dual TiAL Sport MV-R 44mm wastegates; AEM fuel pumps, fuel regulator, filter; AEM CD-7 dash; Injector Dynamics fuel injectors; BC forged steel connecting rods; custom 11-to-1 compression pistons from JE Pistons; Supertech Performance valvetrain; Kelford Cams exhaust cam; Mountune 3D printed aluminum intake manifold; and a Full Race turbo manifold. When all was said and done, Papadakis Racing nearly tripled output to a pavement with 1,033 hp and 908 lb.-ft. of torque.

“The Papadakis Racing team simply did wonders with the new GR Supra; I can’t believe how seriously they worked the motor. They designed and engineered what is proving to be a very competitive, super powerful and great sounding Formula DRIFT racer,” said Ed Laukes, group vice president – Toyota Division Marketing. “As with their previous Toyota race cars, this team knows what it takes to succeed, and their hard work is paying off at the track.”

Driver Fredric Aasbo put the No. 151 GR Supra on the top of the box in its competition debut at the 2020 season opener, and is currently in contention for the championship title. The season finale will be held November 20-22, in Irwindale, California.

Papadakis Racing documented the build with a series of engine and race car build videos on YouTube and streamed an engine build live from the Toyota booth at the 2019 SEMA Show.

The 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine Overland-Ready Tacoma was introduced today as part of Toyota’s 2020 SEMA360 Showcase.

The Overland-Ready Tacoma, created by 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine, is the ultimate outdoor lifestyle rig featuring a slew of off-road performance upgrades that align with the Tacoma’s “go anywhere now” personality and the rising popularity of overlanding adventure.

“The word ‘overlanding’ may be a new word to some, but it’s become increasingly popular this year as more and more people are exploring roads off the beaten path with friends and family,” said Ed Laukes, group vice president – Toyota Division Marketing. “We were excited when the 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine editors shared their idea for this project, and we naturally thought it would be cool to include the build in our SEMA360 presentation.”

The editors started with a Tacoma TRD Pro, teaming up with Ryan O’Connell and ShmellFab to create this build. Off-road upgrades include: ToyTec BOSS Aluma 2.5 Series coilovers, shocks and add-a-leaf package; Toyota E- locker locking differential; CBI Offroad Fabrication lower control arms, front to rear aluminum and steel skid plates, and DOM steel tube rock sliders with top plates and CBI’s ‘kickout’ design; Camburg Engineering upper control arms, and MaxTrax MKII traction boards. 

On the power side, the team added a Magnuson Superchargers Roots-type TVS1900 blower, increasing output to 370 hp and 330 lb.-ft. of torque.

Other components include: BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 255/85R16 tires mounted on 16x8-in. matte black 704 Trail Series from Method Race Wheels, CBI Offroad Fabrication T3 aluminum front bumper and T3 Swing Arm

Series steel rear bumper with dual swingouts, a ComeUp SEAL Gen2 9.5rs winch, aluminum CBI Offroad Fabrication Prinsu Cab Rack fitted with a 40-in. SR Pro LED series light bar and four LED Scene Lights from Rigid Industries, a 20-in. Rigid Industries SR Pro light bar in the front bumper, a Truck Covers USA locking cargo bed cover and rack system and a Yakima SkyLine bed rack. 

Finally, to ensure overlanding explorers have what they need for days off the grid, the editors fitted the Overland Tacoma with a PowerTank PT10 air compressor, a four-gallon Rotopax fuel storage container, a two-gallon Rotopax water storage container, a Hi-Lift jack, and a Yakima SkyRise cargo bed tent. 

Toyota also partnered with social media influencers chef Adam Glick and “Last Line of Defense” on YouTube as they take the 4WD Overland-Ready Tacoma out on the road for an adventure.

Submitted by: Alfredo Rios Vehicle: ’68 Chevrolet Camaro A shiny red ’68, “Imposter” hosts a slew of parts sourced from Chevrolet Performance and All American Billet. Arizona musclecar builder Fesler USA contributed to the project, and Texas Speed engine internals provide a horsepower boost. The car rides on a Ridetech suspension and rolls on a set of GFG Wheels and Toyo tires. A set of Brembo brakes is on call for stopping power, and a fuel tank from Rick’s Tanks allows for extra fuel capacity. Inside, a Kenwood audio system stereo plays tunes, and outside, the ride is adorned with a coat of Glasurit BASF paint.
Submitted by: JD Davis Vehicle: ’70 Dodge Challenger This blue softtop Challenger is equipped with a Ray Barton-prepped Hemi and rides on a Magnum Force modular suspension. Rolling stock is comprised of  a set of color-matched American Racing wheels and Pirelli tires; a Wilwood brake kit bring it all to a stop. Inside, Dakota Digital gauges keeps the driver informed on underhood vitals, and exterior modifications include Kindigit handles and Ringbrothers hinges.
Submitted by: Galih Laksono Vehicle: ’70 Chevrolet C10 Stepside This right-hand-drive C10 (its home is Indonesia) hosts a myriad of goodies underhood with a 502 Chevy big-block providing power. It’s assisted by an Edelbrock intake, Borla exhaust, Taylor wiring and an Optima battery. Power flows through a TH400 transmission to a Currie 9-in. rearend turning a set of Introwheels that are stopped by Wilwood brakes. The custom leather interior contains a Cartenz audio system, Dakota Digital gauges and Lokar shifter. The truck’s custom bed work is builder-fabricated, and the body is covered in custom silver paint.
Submitted by: Rebecca Olavarrieta Vehicle: ’18 Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon Built to ‘wheel as well as to show, this Wrangler boasts suspension and underbody upgrades courtesy of JKS Manufacturing components, Fox coilover shocks, beefy HD Dana axles, beadlocked Raceline wheels and Nitto tires. Poison Spyder Customs provides ample body armor Rigid Industries provides exterior LED lighting, and inside, a Z Automotive JL module allows allows the driver to recalibrate the electronics on the fly. An Alpine audio system provides music, and a Warn winch is on hand should an extraction be required.
Submitted by: Don Sneddon Vehicle: ’19 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Standing atop a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS tires wrapped around OMF beadlock rms, this Ford rides on a Bulletproof Suspension kit that’s supplemented by Atlas replacement springs and King shocks. Exterior mods abound, including parts sourced from KC HiLites, Bushwacker, Go Rhino and AMP Research. The F-150’s engine is aided by an aFe intake, and additional build assistance was provided by Duval Off-Road Designs.

The custom leather interior contains a Cartenz audio system, Dakota Digital gauges and Lokar shifter. The truck’s custom bed work is builder-fabricated, and the body is covered in custom silver paint.
